Mortenson Appoints Community-Minded Business Development Manager
Mortenson, a top-20 U.S. builder, developer, and engineering services provider, has hired Alejandra “Ale” Spray as its newest business development manager in Denver. Spray has more than 18 years of experience in Colorado’s architecture, construction and engineering industries, with a dedicated expertise in community outreach.
“Ale comes to Mortenson with an extensive network of relationships throughout the construction industry and a tremendous reputation for meaningful community engagement,” said Brian Holland, director of business development at Mortenson. “We look forward to her leadership as we continue to grow our business and build a stronger, more diverse workforce pipeline here in Colorado.”
Spray began her career as a project engineer for Boulder-based Complex Tooling & Molding, before operating as marketing director for Denver’s AMI Mechanical for the past 16 years. In addition to designing the business procurement strategies for AMI Mechanical, Spray led the company’s internal and external brand and marketing initiatives, market and client research, business unit positioning and differentiation, budget management, employee wellness programs, and community outreach and fundraising.
Throughout her career, Spray’s passion for community stewardship has been a hallmark. She currently serves on the Bellco Credit Union Board of Directors and Avista Advent Hospital Board of Trustees, and is a governor-appointed council member for the State of Colorado Minority Business Office. In 2016, Spray was named a fellow to the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business Latino Leadership Institute, and from 2017-2018 she was the board president for Hispanic Contractors of Colorado. She was recognized in 2018 as the Business Developer of the Year by the Society for Marketing Professional Services and as a “Rock Star of the Rockies” by the Metro North Chamber of Commerce.
Spray has also been an active member of a number of local business organizations, including Associated General Contractors of Colorado, Design-Build Institute of America, Associated Builders and Contractors, the Society for Marketing Professional Services, and Metro North Chamber of Commerce. She earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Western Institute of Technology and Higher Education in 1996, and her professional engineering degree in civil engineering in 1998.
SA+R Announces New Hires
Amanda Spice
Amanda Spice has joined Denver-based architecture, planning, and interior design studio SA+R in the role of designer. After moving to Denver in 2016, Amanda had the opportunity to work on several projects at the Denver International Airport (DEN). In her work at DEN, Amanda had the opportunity to design commercial retail spaces, such as private lounges, and improve on existing infrastructure systems. Further, her prior work experience included design roles for innovative new education spaces and school district master planning packages.
William Pool, AIA
William Pool joined the SA+R team in the role of architect. With nearly 20 years of design experience with projects around the country, William has lived and worked in Austin, Houston and Chicago before finding his home in Denver. Most recently serving as a Project Manager with another Denver-based design studio, William gained strong experience in leading multifamily rental and condominium projects on the booming Front Range.
Stewart Gohringer, AIA, LEED GA
Gohringer joined the SA+R team in the role of architect. Following seven successful years with Perkins Eastman Architects in New York City, he relocated to Denver for the position. With several years in a leadership role at his prior firm, Stewart brings to SA+R important ideas around creative collaboration, designer education and training support, and a strong portfolio in the design of higher education spaces.
Lynn Acton
Lynn joined the SA+R team in the role of designer. With more than 12 years of experience in the architecture and planning industry, she brings to the firm a strong portfolio of work in the design and planning of complex, mixed-use projects. As a talented project leader, Lynn brings valuable insight especially to early project phases, helping to explore a site’s most strategic uses and taking it through the public entitlement process and into complete design execution.
