Ohlson Lavoie Collaborative Names New CEO

International architectural firm, OLC (Ohlson Lavoie Collaborative) has appointed Robert ‘Bob’ McDonald as its new CEO.

In his new role as CEO, McDonald is responsible for maintaining OLC’s position on the leading edge of the architectural industry. He will ensure that OLC staff has access to the latest in technology and information. He will foster a culture of taking ownership and follow through, while also encouraging friendship and camaraderie. Through these efforts, Bob will ensure that the OLC work product is the very best it can be.

“Bob has been managing partner for the Denver since 2005. He will now apply those leadership skills to the entire firm as we approach the 60-year milestone since the company was founded in 1961,” said Hervey Lavoie, President, OLC.

Some of Bob’s notable projects include his first design commission, a flagship recreation center in his hometown of Laramie, Wyoming; and the award-winning Estes Valley Community Center nestled at the base of Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park. He is also an accomplished public speaker, both as a focus group facilitator and as an industry thought leader at national conferences for various Parks and Recreation Associations, the Athletic Business Magazine Conference, and the Medical Fitness Association (MFA).

“I believe I have three main responsibilities as CEO: 1) taking care of our clients and their needs; 2) setting a strategy for growth, and 3) taking care of our employees. If success can be achieved in these three areas, the long-term success of this company will be secure,” said McDonald.

McDonald’s expertise extends beyond design, detailing and project management to include facility impact studies, assessments, upfront programming and aid in operations pro-forma development. As a LEED® Accredited Professional, Bob works with clients to develop and implement their desired sustainability plan for the project, utilizing LEED® checklists, state guidelines and individually developed project goals.

McDonald is an avid squash player at the Denver Athletic Club. He enjoys reading, sketching, grilling and exploring the great outdoors of Colorado with his wife and three children. He is also a current member of the Denver 17 Elk’s Lodge.
