CBRE Promotes Doug Bakke to Vice Chairman
CBRE announced today that Doug Bakke has been promoted to vice chairman, the highest title for producers at the company.
A 36-year veteran with CBRE, Mr. Bakke provides advisory and transaction services to multimarket and international office occupiers. Over the past five years, he and his team have participated in more than 2,175 transactions worldwide across 565 markets encompassing 34 million sq. ft. and $5.8 billion in total consideration.
Mr. Bakke has worked on many notable transactions in his career, including arranging the sale of land for what would become Level 3 Communications’ headquarters in Broomfield; facilitating a 600,000-sq.-ft. build-to-suit in Nashville for Asurion’s headquarters; and consolidating several locations into a regional headquarters for Level 3 Communications outside London in Basingstoke, U.K.

He was also named among the company’s top 200 producers internationally and a top producer in its Denver office. Both DMCAR and the Colorado chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) have named Mr. Bakke Office Broker of the Year numerous times over the past two decades.
Mr. Bakke currently serves on the Board of Directors for CBRE’s Data Center Solutions and is a guiding member of the CBRE National Occupier Services Group. He’s also a member of DMCAR and NAIOP.
AE Design Announces Promotion
Kaylee Lino was recently promoted to marketing manager at AE Design after working for the firm for 18 months. The new role at the firm is an integral step towards the expansion of AE Design’s organizational structure to best serve client partners. Lino will be ambitiously leading all marketing, communications, and public relations initiatives, while executing strategic marketing, and embracing change through exploration and experimentation. Collaborating with team members and clients, Lino will initiate marketing activities and engage with client organizations.
Lino is engaged in the Women in Lighting Design (WILD) Denver chapter, a non-profit organization focused on providing the lighting community an inclusive and open environment for professional and personal growth. She is also a member of SMPS Colorado and the SMPS One2One mentorship program.

Lino graduated from University of Denver in 2016, with a Bachelors in media studies and double minors in marketing and communications.
Stonebridge Cos. Welcomes C.J. Chapman as General Counsel
Stonebridge Cos., a Denver-based, privately owned, innovative hotel owner, operator and developer, announced that C.J. Chapman has joined the firm as general counsel. Chapman’s addition strengthens Stonebridge’s commitment to growing its diverse hotel portfolio as well as expand its leadership team.
In his new role, Chapman will not only provide in-house legal advice for Stonebridge but also oversee the firm’s risk management group.

Chapman, a Denver native, brings nearly two decades of experience as a general counsel and shareholder to Stonebridge. Most recently, Chapman served as general counsel to Elevation Capital, a venture fund based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
He previously served as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary to BellRock Brands Inc., a publicly traded company on the Canadian Securities Exchange, which he took public in November 2018.
Prior to that role, Chapman was a shareholder at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck LLP, where he practiced in its real estate and corporate departments. His practice focused on the acquisition, disposition, financing, leasing and development of a host of commercial real estate assets, including hotels, multifamily and office buildings, sports complexes, shopping centers and vacant land, as well as advising private companies on corporate matters, including partnership agreements, formation of entities and general corporate governance.

Chapman’s appointment follows on the heels of Stonebridge’s hiring of Brinkman as president and chief operating officer and is part of the firm’s plans for significant growth, both in its portfolio and company composition. Earlier this year, Stonebridge announced plans to acquire more than $1 billion in hotel assets with a focus on third-party management opportunities with recent investment by TowerBrook Capital Partners and other private investors.
Denver Housing Authority Hires Dieudonne Kalala as Director of Internal Audit and Compliance
Denver Housing Authority (DHA) has hired Dieudonne “Dido” Kalala as the director of internal audit and compliance. Kalala has more than 18 years of experience focusing on the delivery of internal audit, SOX compliance and risk assessments with both public and private companies.
In this role, Kalala will be responsible for providing independent, objective assurance and consulting services to add value and improve the operations of DHA. He will assess areas of compliance risk for the agency and collaborate with staff to effectively incorporate compliance functions throughout DHA’s business operations. He will also help DHA accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and government processes. Kalala will act as the intermediary between executive, senior and middle-management leaders to develop and recommend policies and procedures to ensure DHA reinforces restrictions, and improves and upholds the integrity of all programs.
“Dido has an extensive and diverse risk and controls background that will enhance the measures we currently take at Denver Housing Authority,” said David Nisivoccia, executive director of Denver Housing Authority. “We are excited to have him join our team.”
Kalala has varied experience auditing technology, media, telecommunication, financial services, healthcare, and federal and local government agencies. He began his career with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in the Denver area and stayed in Denver for several years before going to work for Ernst & Young in Baltimore, Maryland.
Kalala is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Denver where he received his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on information systems. He also holds an MBA in accounting and finance and is a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA). He is a member of several associations including the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). Kalala currently serves on the board for the Congo Relief Mission.
JVA, Inc. Announces New Construction Services Manager
JVA, Inc. is pleased to announce that John Podeyn has joined the firm as a Construction Services Manager based out of our Glenwood Springs office.
John Podeyn has 25 years of experience in the water/wastewater construction industry. His career has been focused on new construction and expansions of water and wastewater treatment plants. John has previously served as a construction superintendent, project manager, and estimator for a Colorado based general contractor. For JVA, John will manage construction projects for our environmental engineering team including project observations and inspections, constructability review, contractor pay application review, and GMP evaluations. He will use his years of construction experience to improve on
JVA’s designs cost estimating and CMAR process.
