Norris Design Appoints Principal in Denver Office
Norris Design, a national planning, landscape architecture and branding firm, has announced the promotion of Katrina Kowalski to principal in the Denver office.
With more than 17 years of experience building brands and placemaking for hospitality, residential, commercial, municipal, and mixed-use developments from coast-to-coast, Katrina brings brands to life through experiential design and connecting people to place through human-centric solutions. Since joining Norris Design in 2009, Katrina has spearheaded the integrated branding process, cross-pollinating across all offices and disciplines to bring a thoughtful and holistic end result to every project through the thread of branding. Katrina champions experiential design solutions, bringing a dynamic and innovative approach to placemaking and signage design through the lens of immersive user experiences. Katrina’s current projects include Marriot Tribute Portfolio Foote’s Rest hotel in Frisco, Colorado;
Marriot Tribute Portfolio Clifton Heights hotel in Cincinnati, Ohio; The Town of Breckenridge city-wide signage program, Breckenridge Colorado; The Water Valley Company in Windsor, Colorado; Parterre in Thornton, Colorado; Miller’s Landing in Castle Rock, Colorado; and The Bridges in Tucson, Arizona.
Katrina has volunteered with HomeAid Colorado for the past 12 years, partnering with the non-profit to support the organization’s mission through fund-raising events.
JNS Architecture + Interior Design Expands Firm; Welcomes Three New Team Members
JNS Architecture + Interior Design, a Denver-based architecture and interior design firm specializing in hospitality, multi-family and mixed-use projects, is expanding its team by adding two interior designers and an architectural intern. Jessica Swida, Kayla Goldberg and Adriana Onate joined JNS this fall and will strengthen the firm’s interior design capabilities on several upcoming projects.
“As we continue to expand our reach nationally with projects in emerging neighborhoods in all corners of the country, we’re excited to bolster our team with new talent. The additions of Jessica, Kayla and Adriana will continue to build on our creativity and further strengthen our design capacity,” said Nicole Nathan, partner at JNS. “Their backgrounds, fresh perspectives and enthusiasm add great depth and make for valuable additions to the firm.”
Jessica Swida joins the team as an interior designer with more than seven years of experience in architectural and interior design. Most recently a designer for a local multi-family interior design firm, she led multi-family model unit designs, delivered presentations and collaborated with project managers and directors to develop design solutions. Jessica earned her bachelor’s degree of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture and Design from Marywood University and her Master of Design in Interior Studies and Adaptive Reuse from Rhode Island School of Design.
Returning to Denver, Kayla Goldberg rejoins the JNS team as a project leader and interior designer after spending three years in San Francisco. Kayla has more than eight years of experience working on projects including the Hilton Garden Inn Boulder, Embassy Suites Hotel Boulder and The Fitzgerald. She approaches projects with a holistic understanding of the design process and strong technical design expertise. Kayla received her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her Master of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Savannah College of Art and Design. Her certifications include NCIDQ and LEED AP, ID+C.
Adriana Onate brings more than six years of architecture and design experience to JNS and is joining the team as an architectural intern. Having previously served as a fabrication designer, she produced shop and fabrication drawings and digital models for creative and intricate projects such as Meow Wolf. She received her bachelor’s degree of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of Texas at El Paso and a Master of Architecture from the University of New Mexico.
The latest additions of Jessica, Kayla and Adriana build off the firm’s expansion in July of this year with the additions of Danielle Nelson as an Interior Designer, Architectural Interns Deepti Kasinadhuni and Ephraim Jaeger, and Mikala Olson as executive assistant.

NexCore Group Names Jeanette Allen VP Health and Wellness of its Experience Senior Living entity
Denver-based NexCore Group, a national healthcare, life sciences and senior living real estate (HRE) developer, today announced Jeanette Allen, a veteran of the Long-Term Care and senior living industry has been named vice president Health and Wellness for Experience Senior Living (ESL), a NexCore-owned company.
ESL President Phill Barklow says the firm is excited to welcome the leadership and experience of Ms. Allen.
“Jeanette has had an outstanding career in the senior living industry – with over 30 years in leadership roles in independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing. Ms. Allen has served in the senior living space for more than 30 years. Her most recent experience was serving as Vice President Health and Wellness for Balfour Senior Living. In her role, she oversaw clinical and wellness, vendor relations and risk management. Prior to that, Ms. Allen was Divisional Director of Health and Wellness, Senior Lifestyle Corp. and was responsible for clinical oversight, quality assurance, regulatory compliance and service excellence for assisted living, memory care, and skilled care for seven CCRCs nationwide. In addition, Ms. Allen has held positions with Warren Barr Lincolnshire, Tutera Senior Communities and Signature Healthcare, among others.
Ms. Allen, who will be based in Denver, attended William Rainey Harper College and Colorado Technical College where she studied nursing.
