McWhinney Adds New Leadership Team Members

McWhinney, a Colorado-based real estate investor and developer in commercial, multifamily, hospitality, residential and mixed-use assets, recently welcomed three new key leadership members to the expanding organization.

Derek Evans is now serving as McWhinney’s new chief financial officer. Evans will guide McWhinney’s corporate strategy on all financial matters, oversee key financial relationships and collaborate with the company’s senior leadership team to maintain top financial performance. With more than 20 years of experience, Evans joins McWhinney from Wells Fargo, where he most recently served as the managing director for the Commercial Real Estate Group. In this role, he led the lending division providing a broad range of real estate financial products to public real estate investment trusts, private equity funds, private real estate companies and private developers.

Krista Sprenger has been hired as senior vice president of commercial and mixed-use development. Sprenger brings more than two decades of real estate experience, providing office, mixed-use and boutique hospitality development, and execution to McWhinney’s commercial projects. In this new role, she will be responsible for structuring, visioning, entitling, and delivering transformational mixed-use projects. She has held senior leadership positions at Lendlease in Denver, New York and Los Angeles.

Elaine Philis recently joined McWhinney as senior vice president of capital markets. Philis will head equity capital raising and oversee investor relations for McWhinney. During the course of her career, Philis has raised more than $1 billion in equity capital for domestic and international real estate private equity funds, joint ventures and separate accounts from institutional investors, corporate and state pension funds, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, endowments and foundations. She previously held capital raising roles with firms including Broadshore Capital Partners, Lend Lease, Westbrook and Tishman Speyer.

Polsinelli Real Estate Practice Chair Amy Kiefer Hansen is being recognized in the Phoenix & Southwest region. Connect CRE’s Lawyers in Real Estate Awards spotlight 10 attorneys in each region who have made an impact through both their practice in real estate-related matters and the contributions they have made as members of the industry and the community.

Hansen focuses her career on assisting clients who are developing raw land or underutilized properties and transforming them into thriving locations. Her knowledge and experience in working on the front lines of development projects translate into valuable insight for both developer and lender clients. Hansen routinely represents clients with purchase and sale transactions, in multiple states in a variety of sectors including office, industrial, healthcare, and retail. Since 2017, Hansen has assisted with all strategic planning, staffing, recruiting, marketing and associate development for the real estate practice group.

As Division Chair and Practice Chair, Hansen leads Polsinelli’s robust real estate practice as it experiences solid growth across the nation. The Real Estate attorneys on her roster include some of the top real estate lawyers who provide practical solutions, as well as experience that cuts across all segments of the real estate industry. Vertix Builders Welcomes Jonah Vincent as a Superintendent

Vertix Builders, a culture-focused construction company, announced the addition of Jonah Vincent to the company as a superintendent. In this role, he will be responsible for overseeing the total construction effort ensuring that projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. His responsibilities will also include ensuring compliance with contract, drawings and specifications, on-site safety, jurisdictional building codes, and a commitment to providing an exceptional construction experience.

Jonah has more than 16 years of experience in the construction industry and has been involved in a number of successful projects, including projects for Children’s Hospital, UC Health, the Yuma District Hospital, the Rangely District Hospital and the North
Aurora Family Health Services in Aurora. He is a graduate of the Commercial Carpentry Apprenticeship Program.

Jonah’s experience will enable Vertix Builders to expand their medical client base as well as the company’s work in northern Colorado.

 

SLAM Celebrates Team Talent, Promotes One in Denver

SLAM (The S/L/A/M Collaborative), an architecture firm with integrated construction services, landscape architecture, structural and civil engineering, and interior design, announced that 27 team members have been promoted, eight to associate principal, seven to senior associate and 12 to associate.

In the Denver office, Christopher “Chris” Brown has been promoted to associate. He’s a project manager overseeing many of SLAM’s Colorado-based healthcare clients, including Aspen Valley Hospital, UCHealth MCR Bed Tower, and Valley View Hospital.
