PCL Construction Executive Leads Industry Innovation

PCL Construction’s President of US Buildings, Deron Brown, has been recognized as one of Engineering News-Record’s Top 25 Newsmakers for his contributions to advancing innovation and technology in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. The annual Newsmaker list is determined by a committee of ENR editors who select industry professionals who have gone above and beyond to improve the construction industry and the public.

Deron’s desire to advance technology in the industry, and at PCL, led to the creation and sharing of PCL PartsLab, an Autodesk Revit add-in that continues to revolutionize how the industry creates and manages construction documentation. Since being made available to the public in October 2016, PartsLab has been downloaded more than 1,700 times and is one of the top-rated Revit construction-specific add-ins on the Autodesk App Store. He strives to shift the mindset of the industry away from one where people only share the issues or challenges they’ve solved. Instead, he wants organizations and professionals to share how they solved these complex issues, and for the tools and resources to bemade available so others can experience the same result. It was this leadership and insight that led him to be recognized as a Top 25 Newsmaker.

The awardees will be recognized in ENR’s January 22 issue and at the Award of Excellence event in New York on April 5.
