CBRE Promotes Erik Abrahamson to Vice President in Boulder

CBRE recently announced that Erik Abrahamson with CBRE Advisory & Transaction Services in Boulder has been promoted to vice president. Mr. Abrahamson specializes in representing owners, developers and investors of office and flex properties located along the Highway 36 corridor, encompassing all of Boulder and Broomfield counties.

“Erik combines his background in multiple facets of commercial real estate with a comprehensive knowledge of and general enthusiasm for what’s happening across the Boulder/U.S. 36 office and flex market. He’s proved himself to be a great resource to his clients time and again,” said Katie Benefield, sales manager for CBRE’s Colorado region.

Mr. Abrahamson has focused on commercial real estate in Boulder and the northwest Denver metro for over 10 years. In addition to his work with CBRE, his background includes serving as Director of Property Development and Acquisitions for W.W. Reynolds Companies in Boulder. LEED-AP- certified, he also co-founded a LEED facilitation, energy modeling and sustainable design consulting firm.

Most recently, Mr. Abrahamson represented Koelbel and Company in completing a 26,500-square-foot lease for global engineering/manufacturing firm Plexus at 168 Centennial Parkway in Louisville, CO. He is also representing Morgan Creek Ventures in marketing the new Boulder Commons, Colorado’s first aspiring net-zero energy commercial project in Boulder County.

Hyder Construction has promoted Matt Huelskamp to president of the company, effective April 1, 2018. Huelskamp has served as Hyder’s executive vice president for two years and has been with the company for eleven. He will become Hyder’s fifth president in the company’s 72-year history.

Tom McLagan has served as Hyder’s president for twenty years. In 1987, he, his father Neil McLagan, and Ray Lobato purchased Hyder Construction from Hugh Hyder. With this new transition, McLagan will assume the role of Executive Chairman, where he will continue to work with Matt on the company’s strategic initiatives and assist with various business-related functions.

Huelskamp has been with Hyder since 2007 and has grown with the company, serving in several positions throughout his career. His primary focus as Executive Vice President has been partnering with the President and upper management to address priorities within the organization that are critical to its success and leading key business functions relating to business development and talent management.  Prior to his role as Executive Vice President, he served as Director of Business Development.

Huelskamp is a two-time University of Denver grad with an undergraduate degree specializing in Real Estate and Construction Management as well as an Executive MBA. McLagan said, “Over the past year, Matt has successfully taken the reins of more and more of the company operations and I am now certain that he has the skillsets and an energy level superior to mine to lead this company and to continue and improve upon the success of Hyder for everyone involved.”

Huelskamp is actively involved in several professional organizations within the Denver business community including serving as a board member on the Associated General Contractors of Colorado as well as the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation.

Justin Peterson Named New Top Executive of McCarthy Building Companies in Colorado

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., is pleased to announce Justin Peterson has been elevated to the position of vice president of operations. In this new role Peterson will lead McCarthy’s operations in Colorado.

He has a deep understanding of the Colorado construction marketplace and is committed to developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, trade partners and designers.

McCarthy has worked in Colorado for more than 25 years, opening its permanent Colorado office in January 2015. Since that time, the office has grown to include more than 50 salaried and trade staff in the state.

Peterson began his career with McCarthy in the field as a project engineer, moving up to assistant project superintendent, superintendent, project manager and project director before assuming his current role. He holds a Healthcare Construction Certificate from the American Society for Healthcare Engineering and McCarthy’s ICC Class A General Contractors licenses. Peterson received his B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from Willamette University.

An avid outdoorsman, Peterson is also active with Larimer County Boys & Girls Club, Fort Collins Vipers Lacrosse, and NFL Play 60 Flag Football.

The RMH Group Promotes Mike Watkins to Senior Vice President and Principal

The RMH Group (RMH) is proud to announce that Mike Watkins, P.E., was recently promoted to the position of senior vice president and principal. Watkins began his career at RMH in 2000, and quickly established himself as a leader and resource for other engineers in the company. He is a member of the RMH Board and leads the Lean and BIM development efforts for the company. As an RMH group leader, project manager and electrical engineer, Watkins delivers innovative solutions for complex engineering projects for such notable clients as Lockheed Martin Space Systems, Ball Aerospace and Raytheon.

Continuum Partners Promotes Jenny Robinson to Chief Investment Officer

Continuum Partners, a Denver-based firm known for its award winning  urban, mixed-use developments, announced today the promotion of Jenny Robinson to the position of chief investment officer. Robinson has been with Continuum Partners since 2005 and has served as finance manager, development manager and director of Capital Markets and Asset Management. In her new position, Robinson will lead all debt and equity transactions and direct asset management activities.

“Jenny has been an integral part of our team for many years now and we are thrilled to have her move into the position of Chief Investment Officer,” said Mark Falcone, founder of Continuum Partners. “It’s no secret that the financial aspects of real estate development can make or break any given project and Jenny has been invaluable in the success of our portfolio, most notably the redevelopment of Union Station neighborhood and the in-progress 9th & Colorado project.”

Robinson originally joined Continuum’s finance department in 2005 where she has worked on sourcing debt and equity for nearly all of Continuum’s development projects to date as well as underwriting new project opportunities. In that capacity, she was involved in several billion dollars of financial structuring and underwriting.  Following a brief move to California and Nevada, Robinson returned to Continuum in 2014 in the role of development manager on the 9+CO and A Block teams and in the spring of 2015, she transitioned back to run the finance department for Continuum.

“It’s a great honor to become CFO at Continuum Partners, I’m grateful for the opportunity and it is something I have worked hard to achieve,” said Robinson. “Mark Falcone has been so supportive of my career at Continuum and with the amazing team we have in place and projects we’re developing, there has never been a more exciting time to be a part of this company.”

Robinson began her career in real estate with Principal Financial Group, as a commercial mortgage underwriter. She was responsible for the procurement and management of portfolio and securitized mortgage investments for private and public debt clients.  She graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in finance and accounting and went on to complete a master’s degree in finance and real estate from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Robinson is actively involved with the CU Real Estate Center and has twice been nominated for the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW)’s Women of Influence Award. She lives in Denver with her husband and two boys.

As Chief Investment Officer, Robinson will continue to oversee the finance department which is responsible for the financing structures for all of Continuum’s project and she will now be a member of the Executive Committee, which oversees all investment decisions for the company.
