CBRE’S Monica Newman Named Top Achiever in Commercial Lending/Finance at 2017 CREW DENVER Women of Influence Awards

monica-newmanCBRE announced this week that Monica Newman was recognized as the Top Achiever in Commercial Lending / Finance at CREW Denver’s 2017 Women of Influence Awards. An Executive Vice President with CBRE Capital Markets, Debt & Structured Finance, in Denver, Ms. Newman has marketed and managed more than $1 billion in FHA insured multifamily, senior living and healthcare debt products over the course of her commercial real estate career. She is considered one of the FHA-insured housing industry’s foremost experts.

Ms. Newman specializes in providing financing for multifamily and healthcare real estate projects using the FHA-insured financing programs provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Joining CBRE in 2009, Ms. Newman has been the top producer in her line of business since 2013. In 2016, she ranked among the top three percent of all CBRE producers in the Americas.

The CREW Denver Women of Influence Awards seeks to honor women who are reaching new heights in the Denver commercial real estate industry. This year’s awards ceremony took place Oct. 4, 2017, in downtown Denver.

Pinkard Construction Names New President, Chief Operating Officer

Pinkard Construction announced that Tony Burke has been named president of Pinkard Construction Company and Jeff Barnes has been named chief operating officer.

A Pinkard employee since 1999, Tony Burke has continually distinguished himself as a value-added contributor for Pinkard and our clients in all phases of his career.  Starting as a project engineer, Tony has moved through the ranks as senior engineer, project manager, senior project manager, and construction manager. Tony has a passion for client development and a hands-on approach to everything he does. Tony’s strong relationship skills and ability to totally immerse himself in a project has led one client to say “…the way he conducts himself; the stuff he remembers and looks out for is just amazing.”

Tony has a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction Management from Purdue University, and is a LEED Accredited Professional. He has provided tremendous leadership in Pinkard’s senior living, municipal and healthcare groups. “My goal for the organization is for us to simply have an acute understanding of our clients’ goals and missions, and to equip and empower each of our team members to create an unmatched client experience,” says Burke.

Jeff Barnes

Jeff Barnes joined Pinkard Construction in 2000 following several years with other commercial contractors in Colorado and Arizona. In the construction business since 1973, Jeff has hands-on experience as a superintendent, project manager, senior project manager, construction manager and operations manager. He is a problem solver who excels at team building, communication, and financial management.

In his new role, Barnes will oversee all business directly relating to preconstruction, construction, self performance, and warranty, and will work directly with Pinkard’s director of preconstruction, construction managers and field management.

He hopes to, “Increase communication and collaboration among all phases and aspects of the construction process, bring a new approach to client acquisition and retention, and allow our teams the authority to get their jobs done efficiently for the overall benefit of the project.”

“This new role is the logical next step for Jeff. He has tremendous leadership skills, knowledge, and experience in operations, and will continue to be a great asset for Pinkard, our clients and their projects,” says Pinkard.

Marcus & Millichap Capital Corp. Hires New Associate Director in Denver

Alex DucasMarcus & Millichap Capital Corp. (MMCC), a leading provider of commercial real estate financing and capital markets expertise, announced that Alex Ducas has joined MMCC as an associate director working in Denver.

As an associate director, Ducas will be responsible for securing commercial debt financing for an array of property types including multifamily, office and industrial, retail, seniors housing and hospitality. His focus will be along the Front Range and select outside markets. He will be leveraging MMCC’s commercial real estate financing origination platform to utilize national, regional and local funding sources on behalf of his clients including, but not limited to, MMCC’s correspondent GSE (Fannie/Freddie/FHA) lending relationships, commercial banks, CMBS lenders, life insurance companies, private and public funds and hard money lenders

Prior to joining MMCC, Ducas served as a loan advisor and sales consultant with OnDeck Capital where he sourced and underwrote new debt placements and nurtured client relationships. Previous to that, he served in various business development positions for alternative energy companies in Northern California.

Ducas is a graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in international affairs. He is currently enrolled at the University of Denver pursuing an M.B.A..

Adam Larkey Named Director of Leasing and Sales for Zeppelin Development 

adamZeppelin Development recently announced that Adam Larkey has been named director of leasing and sales. The Denver-based development company is known for more than four decades of visionary work, most recently focused on mixed-use projects in the RiNo (River North) neighborhood.

“Adam has a solid, multifaceted real estate background – he relates well with all of our project types which include housing, new-economy office spaces, and new-generation retail,” said Kyle Zeppelin, principal of Zeppelin Development. “He’s also cares deeply about the community around him and strives to improve the community as a whole. The combination of these makes for a great cultural fit at Zeppelin Development, as our values align well.”

Adam has more than eight years of experience in commercial and residential real estate.  He most recently worked as a broker at Broad Street Realty, and prior to that as a realtor at Dwell Denver.  He has sold and leased residential, retail, office and industrial space across the Denver metro area, with more than 50 commercial real estate deals over the past three years and more than $10 million in residential transactions in the past five years. His clients have included The Goddard School, Allstate Insurance, Copper Door Coffee, West+Main Homes, Garrett Brown Designs, Feed Media, Rose Paving and Wills and Wellness.

In addition to his real estate background, Adam was a driving force and co-founder of Eater Denver, a popular blog that covers the local restaurant and dining scene.  In addition to setting a successful direction for the blog, Adam served as photographer, capturing images for more than 600 restaurants.  He has also worked as a freelance photographer for ABC/Disney (where his photos ran in publications including the New York Times, USA Today, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Newsweek and Time).  He also freelanced for local publications including 5280, The Denver Post, Denver Business Journal, Denver Life Magazine and 303 Magazine.
