Denver’s historic Larimer Square is excited to announce that Apollo Hall — downtown’s newest unique event venue offering original charm with modern vibes — is now officially open.
Located at 1427 Larimer Street, Larimer Square’s historic Congdon Building originally opened in 1859 as Apollo Hall. The building has a storied history that mirrors the evolution of Larimer Square and Denver itself. Originally built in the 1800s by Barney Bros & Co. as a billiard and liquor saloon, it quickly transformed into Denver’s first conveniently located hotel and then, by October 1859, into a lively theater.
The new event space can accommodate up to 400 people, with a renovated 40-foot bar, a private catering room, and a coat check. One unique element of the space is the ability to cater through Larimer Square restaurants. From James Beard award-winning chefs and Chinese street food-inspired fare to Frank Bonanno’s famous pizza and locals’ favorite Huckleberry coffee, an event at Apollo Hall can offer guests a true taste of Denver
Located just blocks from the Colorado Convention Center, Apollo Hall is a perfect complement to the resurgence of downtown Denver and a fun way to explore an iconic Denver destination when hosting intimate events alongside convention. It also offers direct access from Larimer Square up the stairs near Rioja and through the back door via the walking bridge from the Larimer Square parking garage, which has its entrance off Market Street.
Partnering with developers, property owners and local governments, Apollo Hall is managed by Denver’s spacemaker, a company that identifies unique, locally significant locations to leverage as event venues managing the sales and operations of their one-of-a-kind spots and unlocking fresh revenue potential and brand exposure for their properties.
Also new on the block, NADC Burger is now serving Wagyu cheeseburgers at 1441 Larimer Street. A collaboration between Professional Skateboarder Neen Williams and Michelin Starred Chef Phillip Frankland Lee, NADC Burger is open daily from 11:30 a.m. – midnight.
Sushi by Scratch Restaurants, an Omakase-style counter by Chefs/owners Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee, is now offering a meticulously curated 17-course dining experience at its intimate 10-seat counter located at 1441 Larimer St.
Tamayo – the modern Mexican restaurant at 1400 Larimer St. by acclaimed Chef Richard Sandoval that has been serving modern Mexican food on Larimer Square since 2001- is currently undergoing a renovation and will reopen on March 4 with a refreshed space and an elevated dining experience.
Saved by award-winning preservationist Dana Crawford, Larimer Square became Denver’s first historic district in 1971. The district’s landmark ambiance and unique mix of critically acclaimed restaurants and boutique shops draw more than 4.5 million people each year. Alongside budding new concepts like Emerald Eye, Garage Sale, Bao Brewhouse and Disco Pig, the street also features one-of-a-kind award-winning chef-driven concepts like Rioja created by James Beard Award-Winning Chef Jennifer Jasinski and Osteria Marco by Chef Frank and Jacqueline Bonanno. Between the restaurants, Larimer Square is dotted with a variety of unique and noteworthy shops like Cotopaxi. The leadership team is working to keep Larimer Square the most vibrant and exciting block in Denver.
