Norris Design, an award-winning people and placemaking firm, received three Best in American Living Awards at the 2025 International Builders Show.

NAHB’s Best in American Living Awards celebrate the value and importance of good home and community design, recognizing the architects, builders and designers who define residential excellence.

Kindred Resort was recognized with a Silver award in the Best On-the-Boards Community category. Located in the heart of Keystone, Colorado, Kindred Resort is set to transform the base of the ski mountain into a vibrant community hub that enhances the experience for visitors and locals. Centered around a grand staircase aligned with the gondola, the resort features a public courtyard with fire pits, lawn games, and illuminated gathering spaces, offering an inviting atmosphere for families and guests. The design also integrates ski schools, restaurants, and retail spaces into the courtyard allowing parents to easily pick up gear while enjoying expansive views from the public plaza and private pool deck. A layout that integrates seamlessly with the existing village while giving the resort an even greater sense of place.

Smith Ranch Neighborhood was recognized with a Silver award in the Best Single-Family Community category. Located in Silverthorne, one of Colorado’s most notoriously challenging housing markets, Smith Ranch is a landmark neighborhood that creates housing solutions for Summit County’s workforce earning between 80-120% AMI. The 51-acre site was master planned to create a vibrant community for those previously restricted by home prices, looking to settle in Silverthorne long-term. The community fosters diversity through the provision of several home types, all deed-restricted to ensure the neighborhood remains perpetually affordable. Smith Ranch creates affordable housing options without sacrificing thoughtful design, creating a place residents are proud to call home.

Parterre was recognized with a Silver award in the On-the-Boards Community category. Parterre is a vibrant 765-acre community in Thornton designed for the missing middle — teachers, nurses, first responders, and other hardworking individuals who’ve earned a place to call their own. Located north of Denver, this imaginative development is centered around the belief that everyone deserves a beautiful place to flourish.
