Selected from 20 entries, Bryant Flink Architecture + Design’s context-sensitive approach for the urban infill project at 2935 Zuni Street in Denver received Historic Denver’s 2025 Remix Award. The project included the design of a new 32-unit residential building with ground-floor retail, called The Griffin, and the updating of
12 units in the adjacent historic Ochiltree Block building.
Ochiltree Block, constructed in 1892 for commercial use, is a Denver landmark. Bryant Flink’s design for The Griffin accentuates and complements the historic structure and highlights its late-19th-century detailing.
Historic Denver’s Remix Award is presented to projects that have creatively combined the old and new. These projects typically involve older structures that feature new additions or alterations, which though1ully contribute to the existing building’s ongoing story and deepen the community’s appreciation of the place.
“The thought-provoking reinvention of the Ochiltree Block stood out for its careful integration of modern design with historic character. The project reflects a clear respect for the building’s architectural legacy while introducing a contemporary layer that enhances its utility and relevance today,” — Historic Denver.
“Kudos to our client, JAB Real Estate from Chicago; the contractor, Alliance Construction Solutions; the engineering team, McNamara Salvia, Raptor Civil Engineering, and Group 14 Engineering; and the landscape architect, Stack Lot.
