PCL Construction Celebrates Colorado Gives Day

This Colorado Gives Day, December 10, 2024, PCL Construction Enterprises Inc. announced it has raised nearly $630,000 for Mile High United Way, surpassing its $475,000 goal and contributing to a 27-year total of $21.2 million. These funds will directly benefit programs that address critical community challenges, including giving vulnerable children a strong start, supporting education and academic success and creating economic opportunities for families.

Additionally, PCL donated $35,000 to support programs including Women United, an initiative that connects women to essential resources such as safe housing, job opportunities and quality childcare, and sponsored the annual Women United Luncheon.

Last year alone, Mile High United Way invested $25.5 million to help nearly 700,000 people through initiatives focused on housing stability, early childcare and education and workforce development. Under the theme “PCL Dream Builders: Constructing a Better Future,” 190 employees and retirees came together to make direct contributions, matched by PCL, in a collective effort to make a meaningful impact.

“Raising more than half a million dollars for Mile High United Way shows the commitment of PCL employees to supporting their communities,” said Deron Brown, PCL president and chief operating officer, U.S. operations. “We’re proud to support an organization making a real difference for nearly 30 years.”

Beyond financial contributions, PCL employees showed their dedication to the community by assembling 80 school supply kits for Mile High United Way’s HIPPY program and writing nearly 100 thank-you cards to volunteers at the organization’s 211 call center. The campaign included various events including a client and partner golf tournament with 28 sponsors, a kick-off event where Mile High United Way highlighted its partnership with PCL, daily raffles, virtual bingo and cosmic bowling.

“We are so grateful for PCL’s nearly 30-year partnership. They continue to make a lasting impact on our community through their generosity and employee involvement,” said Christine Benero, president and CEO of Mile High United Way. “In the last two years alone, PCL and its employees have donated over $1 million, with more than 80% participation—demonstrating their dedication to improving lives throughout Metro Denver. PCL builds hope.”
