Sustainability is a mindset that’s incorporated into how PCL Construction does business, which is why the company’s efforts have once again been recognized on Engineering News-Record’s Top 100 Green Buildings Contractors list. This year, PCL climbs three spots to No.14 on the list.
PCL focuses on continuous improvement in their practices, minimizing construction waste and energy use on the job site by supporting their work with new investments in technology. PCL has also established an internal network of sustainable construction advisors who provide expertise regarding sustainable construction and assist clients in achieving their goals for sustainability and high-performance buildings.
“Clients are getting more sophisticated with their approaches to sustainability,” said Scott Beckman, director of sustainability. “Where LEED was once the universally accepted standard, building owners have begun prioritizing their needs by pursuing other specialized standards related to net zero energy, carbon or human health and wellness.”
Being in business for 113 years has allowed PCL to build a solid foundation of commitment to corporate social responsibility. The stability of the company has allowed PCL to bring in new technology, best practices and innovation to the construction industry.
