Broomfield, CO — Ex-Kansas plumbing company, Viega LLC, a manufacturer of plumbing and HVAC equipment, broke ground on its new 55,000-square-foot North American headquarters, along with a 24,000-square-foot training facility in Broomfield, CO.
OZ Architecture, an award-winning, national architecture and design firm, was selected by Viega LLC to lead the master planning and design for the company’s new 90,000 square foot corporate campus.
OZ Architecture is currently refining the designs for the first two buildings in the master plan which will capture both the 115-year history and innovation of a high performance German plumbing fitting company and the lifestyle and energy of Colorado. The headquarters building will be 55,000 square feet and house approximately 200 Viega LLC employees, while a smaller 25,000 square foot seminar building will meet the company’s wide-ranging global needs with the inclusion of an exhibition hall, café, workshop areas, and several seminar rooms.
The design of both buildings was derived from the pipe fitting products Viega manufactures. A sweeping curved roof on the headquarters building encloses three stories of office space with breaks for floor to ceiling windows, while the seminar building features similarly curved roofs on a smaller scale. An outdoor courtyard connects the two buildings and serves as a focal point of the campus, positioned to take advantage of sweeping views of the Flatirons, Long’s Peak and the Front Range. Two additional buildings, also designed by OZ Architecture, are in the master plan to serve as office space and will be built as the company continues to grow and expand.
“Viega LLC indicated right away their intention to become a pillar of the metro Denver business community and establish roots here, which was particularly meaningful to us as one of Colorado’s founding architecture firms,” says Eduardo Illanes, principal at OZ Architecture. “The campus we’ve designed for them will incorporate all of the essential components and functionality that they need to grow the company, train their employees and teach architects, engineers and members of the plumbing and heating industry how their products work.”
David Garlow, CEO and President of Viega LLC, says, “The amount of economic growth happening in the Denver area, as well as the ease of access for national and international travelers, makes it a premier business center and we expect that our new headquarters will play a large role in helping us attract the best employees, customers, and vendors worldwide.”
Groundbreaking for the project was June 20, 2017, with completion targeted for late 2018.
