Progress at Veterans Renaissance Apartments Project in Aurora

Alliance Construction Solutions is currently constructing the Veterans Renaissance Apartments project in Aurora.

According to an update from Alliance Construction Solutions, the Veterans Renaissance Apartments project in Aurora is well underway. The project is being developed by Colorado Coalition for the Homeless and designed by Studio Completiva.

The Veterans Renaissance Apartments project is an addition to the Fitzsimons Campus, and is located near the new VA Medical Center. This 55,000-square-foot apartment complex consists of four stories and 60 housing units. The housing is comprised of one and two-bedroom units.

The Alliance team is currently working through interior finishes. Additionally, on the exterior of the building, the team has begun brickwork on the south and west elevations and will soon begin metal panel installation.

The team has made a variety of adjustments to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, including taking daily temperature checks, requiring masks, hosting all meetings virtually, and rescheduling material deliveries to avoid delays.

“Alliance is dedicated to overcoming this challenge through staggered shifts, additional hours and creative sequencing of scopes all while maintaining employee and worker safety as our number one priority,” says Senior Project Manager Dan Miller.

On June 1, 2016, Gov. John Hickenlooper signed House Bill 16-1397, which directed CDHS to develop two vacant parcels of land surrounding the existing veterans home. The development of this land was to be used to provide a continuum of care exclusively for veterans and qualifying family members. These apartments will provide permanent supportive housing for veterans experiencing homelessness.

A certain number of units are set aside for lower income households. Households must earn either less than 50% or 60% of the area median income (depending on the set-aside option chosen by the property owner) to qualify for these units. Rents in these units are capped at a maximum of 30% of the set-aside area median income (adjusted for unit size).

Veterans Renaissance Apartments is expected to be completed in Q4 2020.
