Rockbridge Acquires Halcyon Hotel, Cherry Creek

DENVER – Ohio-based Investor Rockbridge, has acquired the Halcyon hotel in Cherry Creek, from owner Sage Hospitality.

The 154-room luxury hotel, located at 245 Columbine Street, is Rockbridge’s most recent lifestyle property. Makeready, who specializes in independent hotels and restaurants, will manage the hotel, restaurants and bars.

Halcyon’s independent personality is deeply connected to the local community in Cherry Creek. Prior ownership built a strong brand in Halcyon that appeals to the discerning traveler. Guests agree, consistently rating Halcyon as one of the top hotels in all of Denver. Rockbridge is pleased to acquire the property and will continue to embrace the local community as we make enhancements to the property and hotel operations.

“I’ve been impressed with Halcyon for some time, and when the opportunity arose to acquire it, we moved quickly,” said Jim Merkel, Rockbridge CEO. “We believe in Halcyon, and its strength as an independent brand. We look forward to re-capitalizing and enhancing the property.  We are thrilled that a local investor group led by Matt Joblon has retained a minority interest in the hotel – keeping strong ties to the local community.”

Rockbridge will capture Halcyon’s existing high-quality but approachable luxury when it re-concepts Departure restaurant, the hotel entrance, and lobby experience. The hotel features Quality Italian, a modern take on an Italian-American Steak House; an activated, rooftop pool and lounge; and B&GC, a vintage speakeasy.

Majority owner BMC Investments of Denver will stay on as an investor, lead by CEO Matt Joblon.

“Since opening in 2016, Halcyon has set a new standard for luxury, independent hotels not only in Cherry Creek, but in Denver,” said Joblon. “We believe Rockbridge and Makeready are the perfect partners to continue bringing the Halcyon vision to its fruition, ensuring the hotel maintains its position as one of the top hotels in Denver, and is a consistently great asset for the Cherry Creek Community.”

Rooms feature thoughtful design details that blur the lines between a luxury escape and a gracious home. Guests will enjoy unique amenities to enhance their experience like turntables in each room to play vinyl favorites and Vivreau beverage stations on each floor with chilled, sparkling and instant hot water on tap.

The hotel has expansive art programming, sharing the works of local Colorado artisans throughout its spaces. In addition, the Halcyon offers Cherry Creeks’ premier, meeting space destination with 6,500 square feet of versatile, modern meeting and event space.
