Rowland+Broughton Joins Forces with AIA

Rowland+Broughton Principal Sarah Broughton, Principal Amanda Christianson, and Project Architect Marisol Foreman.

Rowland+Broughton Architecture/Urban Design/Interior Design is proud to announce that three of its team members will join forces with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Colorado as the organization moves into 2021.

Principal Sarah Broughton, AIA, will serve a second term as west director on the AIA Colorado Board of Directors, Principal Amanda Christianson, AIA, will serve as chair of the AIA Colorado Business of Architecture Knowledge Community Committee, and Project Architect Marisol Foreman, AIA, will serve as chair of the AIA Colorado Design Awards Committee.

The AIA Colorado Board of Directors oversees the affairs of the nonprofit and is responsible for setting the direction of the organization through governance, policy-making, and strategic planning.

“It is such an honor to be named to the AIA Board of Directors once again, along with such esteemed colleagues, especially after the challenges we and the architecture field as a whole have faced for the past year. It speaks to how strong we can be when we all work together toward a common goal of building a culture of belonging and advocating for design in Colorado. With Amanda and Marisol as chairs of their respective committees, these concepts will be furthered and AIA Colorado’s members will be well supported and recognized,” said Broughton.

The Business of Architecture Knowledge Community Committee helps to organize networking events and learning opportunities around the business side of architecture. “We are most excited about launching quarterly forums in 2021,” says Christianson. “Targeted at firm principals and rising leadership, we will host round-table discussions for members to connect on vital business issues. We hope this platform will be used as a sounding board among peers to discuss their successes or challenges in implementing change, share resources, and as an opportunity to share experiences in running their businesses.”

The AIA Colorado Design Awards Committee helps plan the annual AIA Colorado Design + Honor Awards program, which elevates design and recognizes the accomplishments of individual Colorado architects and firms. “This is my third year on the committee, and first as chair,” notes Foreman, “And I am excited to continue volunteering on a committee that celebrates the best designs Colorado has to offer. Last year, we rolled out the Sustainability category and handed out our very first Sustainability Award. We will keep sustainability as a component of the design awards this year, as it is so important for architects to value the integration of sustainability in great design.”

AIA Colorado is the voice of the architecture profession in Colorado. Through advocacy, leadership development, education and resources for architects, the organization is supporting architecture professionals in designing a better world where we all can live, work and play.
