Santulan Architecture, a Denver-based, architecture firm, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 12, attended by District 7 Councilmember Flor Alvidrez, to celebrate the opening of its new company headquarters at 88 Santa Fe Drive in the Santa Fe Arts District. Uniquely, the development is also home to 25 new attainable apartments known as Tula Apartments.
“I want to commend Santulan’s work on this beautiful project and partnership with the community — it’s evident how much thought was put into the lives of the people that are going to be living here and the surrounding neighborhood,” said Councilmember Flor Alvidrez. “I’m really excited you chose District 7 for your new home, and look forward to a long, collaborative relationship and seeing a lot more beautiful projects that you’re able to bring to life.”
While Santulan has designed more than 14,000 multifamily residences across the region, the new three-story mixed-use building marks the firm’s first time serving as the developer of a ground-up project – experience the firm will be able to immediately apply in their work as trusted advisors for clients embarking on similar development projects.
“Incorporating attainable housing into our new headquarters was an easy decision for our team to make,” said Harsh Parikh, founder and president of Santulan Architecture. “As housing architects, we have learned so many valuable lessons and we thought it would be exciting to apply those to our own development while doing our part to address Denver’s housing challenges.”
In designing the building, Santulan prioritized the use of raw, natural materials such as wood, steel, concrete, and masonry, not only for their intended functionality but also for their aesthetic expression in their unaltered state. With high ceilings, ample natural light, biophilic design elements, biking infrastructure, exercise facilities and a rooftop deck with breathtaking vista views, the building aims to inspire a sense of community and well-being amongst visitors, residents and employees who experience the space.
Tula Apartments are available for rent now and include studio, one- and two-bedroom floorplans. In keeping with Santulan’s commitment to design that optimizes resident experience at all income levels, the apartments feature a rooftop terrace with 360-degree views, an outdoor kitchen, a fire pit, a pet area, and a large solar array. Each unit offers a full kitchen, washer/dryer and city or mountain views. The location within the Santa Fe Arts District additionally puts residents in proximity to multimodal transit options.
