Saunders Heath, a leading construction manager and general contractor in Northern Colorado, along with Animal Friends Alliance, celebrated the opening of the new addition to Animal Friends Alliance’s Taft Hill Campus in Fort Collins on Friday, Jan. 27, 2023.
With this new, 5,027-square-foot addition, Animal Friends Alliance was able to unify its sheltering and adoption programs into one central location. Designed by VFLA Architects, the adoption center now houses animal health and isolation rooms, animal intake and animal adoption. The addition also includes a community room and new cat colony rooms with windows looking into the lobby.
“It’s just amazing,” said Sarah Swanty, executive director and co-founder of Animal Friends Alliance. “It feels like we’ve been working on this project forever, and now we’re here and we have this gorgeous new building. So many community members shared this vision with us and made this happen. They’re celebrating with us knowing that we’ll be able to save more animals.”
Along with the addition, Saunders Heath renovated 5,200 square feet of the existing shelter, providing updated office space, a break room, dog adoption rooms and a community education room.
Saunders Heath delivered this project two weeks ahead of schedule, enabling Animal Friends Alliance to move in and start saving animals sooner.
