Saunders Construction, Inc. held its third annual Clay Shoot Fundraiser on Oct. 6 to support its 2020-2021 Building Confidence in Kids (BCiK) partner, HopeKids Colorado. With the support of 48 industry partners, 60 teams, 15 sponsors and 21 volunteers, the committee was able to raise $48,903 for HopeKids Colorado.
“We were unsure if we’d be able to move forward with the Clay Shoot this year due to the current state of events,” said Project Manager and BCiK Committee Lead Brian Clark. “Our committee went above and beyond to ensure the event moved forward, safely, to support the needs of HopeKids. It was amazing to see the support of our industry partners at the event.”
The 20 station-course at the Long Meadow Game Resort & Event Center included two bonus stations, which raised over $5,000 alone. Saunders volunteers got a chance to meet with attendees while giving participants more information about HopeKids and their mission.
“To see a company like Saunders keep their commitment to community partners during such unpredictable times means the world not only for HopeKids Colorado but also for the nonprofit community at large,” said HopeKids Colorado Executive Director Howie Hutchinson. “The support of Saunders goes far beyond the Clay Shoot.”
With many HopeKids facing life-threatening health issues, this year’s pandemic has made it challenging to connect in-person, which is what HopeKids events are all about. Working through these barriers, the committee hosted a virtual BINGO night, an educational technology event with Saunders’ Integrated Technologies Group (ITG), a fly-fishing event and a drive-by gift pickup.
BCiK will continue to work around in-person restrictions through the end of the year. Events have either been moved to virtual platforms or smaller groups to keep HopeKids’ families safe and healthy.
Saunders launched their BCiK program in 2009. This program is designed to involve employees from all levels of the company, while creating an outlet for volunteerism and community impact. This two-year partnership has allowed Saunders employees to make tangible contributions while building strong relationships with our local nonprofit partners.
