Taylor Kohrs, a Colorado-based general contractor for 40 years, recently began construction of a 60-unit, permanently affordable senior housing complex in Boulder. Construction on the Mt. Calvary Senior Housing project includes the preservation, renovation and repurposing of the former sanctuary building into a community space.
The new 62,000-square-foot, 3-story facility is owned by Boulder Housing Partners and is designed by jv DeSousa Architecture (formerly Reveal Architecture). The complex will feature a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments, large exterior patio areas, crushed refined walking trails and several rain gardens spread throughout the property. Additionally, the 10,239-square-foot sanctuary building, built in 1957, is being restored for future use.
“There is such a strong need for affordable senior housing with modern amenities and a safe community environment in Boulder,” said Taylor Kohrs president Scott Heasty. “Taylor Kohrs is proud to help create a beautiful community for seniors to live, and also bring new life to a historic structure.”
The project is anticipated to be complete in late Spring 2024.
