The Goldfinch Joins Denver’s South Broadway Bar Scene

The Goldfinch, a sophisticated new cocktail bar in Denver’s South Broadway neighborhood at 1842 S Broadway #103, recently opened its doors to the public. An intimate gathering space for happy hour, late-night service and brunch, The Goldfinch features rotating craft libations and culinary delights, enriched by curated musical entertainment, including cabaret, downtempo house-centric tunes mixed by a DJ, and more.

The independent and locally owned concept is helmed by Denver hospitality veteran Iain Chisholm. Well-versed in Denver’s culinary and beverage industry, Chisholm owned and served as chef at early RiNo neighborhood staples Americatus (also known as Amerigo) and DADA Art Bar, before venturing into culinary production.

“We’re excited to introduce something new to South Broadway,” said Chisholm, who credits The Goldfinch as a ‘guiding presence.’ “As a longtime resident of the neighborhood, I’m passionate about bringing the first elevated cocktail bar-meets-entertainment venue to life here.”

Ivan Garcia, who owns Top Notch Contracting, served as the general contractor.

Inspired by the goldfinch songbird – known for its spirited nature, light-hearted cheerfulness, restlessness, sociability and untiring activity – the cocktail bar’s ambiance is reflective of the bird’s balance between grace and playfulness. The décor seamlessly blends Hollywood regency sophistication with a Western charm and features vibrant colors: rich golds, sterling silver, greens, terracotta, leathery browns and blues. The space is anchored by leather couches and velvet chairs, set against black-and-white checkered floors, hanging chandeliers and framed digital art complemented by gilded mirrors. Adding to the allure is a VIP booth nestled in the back and an enchanting outdoor patio adorned with cozy seating surrounded by lush greenery and wooden elements.

“I wanted to design the space to present like a comfortable living room at your cool friend’s house. A place that feels like home but also like you’re there for a special occasion. To me, hospitality spaces should lead with functionality, but be graded on a rubric of how comfortable they are to spend time in,” said Chisholm.

With influences ranging from Europe, Asia and the Middle East, The Goldfinch’s menu consists of elevated brunch dishes from shared plates to platters. The beverage menu features hand-crafted libations, from the signature Goldfinch, made with blanco tequila, spicy yellow pepper, roasted pineapple syrup and egg whites, to the Mint To Be, featuring peppermint vodka and peppermint cordial, as well as zero-proof cocktails and a thoughtfully curated wine list. Making the experience at The Goldfinch even more immersive, a live DJ tastefully blends assorted soundtracks to enhance the flavorful palate of each culinary delight.

The Goldfinch will be open Tuesday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to midnight, Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
