Pinnacle Charter School in Thornton, has completed the purchase of 11.4 acres of land just west of I-25 & 84th Avenue in Thornton, to develop new athletic facilities for the school, as well as a mixed-use community property for the general public..
“We are very excited to build this vision we have for our school with the inclusion and input of the Thornton and Federal Heights community,” says Pinnacle Charter School CEO, Chad Miller. “While we are set on creating an athletic field for our students, we are also welcoming ideas from the neighbors and community members who will also be able to use this property.”
Pinnacle has partnered with JHL Constructors and architecture firm, Hord Coplan Macht, to build out this vision and create a beautiful property that will be accessible and useable for residents all ages. Anser Advisory is acting as owners’ representative for the project.
“We are also working very closely with the City of Thornton and Adams County on this project,” says Miller. “Thornton is well-known as a city that embraces open space, parks and recreation for its residents, and we want to honor that commitment to an active lifestyle. Some ideas we are working with include playgrounds, workout stations, and trails for enjoyment by everyone in the community.”
“We are so excited as a city to be a part of creating something so meaningful for the community, and an area that will be open to everyone,” says City Councilwoman and Ward One representative, Jacque Phillips. “I am looking forward to engaging with the community as plans for the community-use space take shape and working with the neighbors to ensure it is a place they enjoy and can use as often as they like.”
Pinnacle plans to begin construction later this summer and the facility is planned to deliver in the spring of 2021.
“What an exciting project to be a part of,” says JHL’s Executive Vice President, Brad Schmahl. “We’re thrilled to partner with Pinnacle to deliver an awesome athletic facility for them that also has an impact on the surrounding communities; especially in such a high-profile location, being able to be seen right from I-25.”
The involvement of Hord Coplan Macht as the architect and landscape architect will also bring a unique aspect to the project, as the firm specializes in K-12 building and site design.
“We are excited about the opportunity to design additional indoor and outdoor spaces for Pinnacle Charter School and for the community,” says Adele Willson, principal at Hord Coplan Macht.
The purchase of the land is complete and planning is underway, with more information slated to be shared this spring.
“We have a very experienced design and construction team with Hord Coplan Macht and JHL and are excited to be involved in the creative process with the Pinnacle team,” says Anser Advisory representative, Kurt Connolly. “The fieldhouse and turf field will be tremendous assets to the community and a feather in Pinnacle’s cap.”
