Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, recently completed a 197,000-square-foot manufacturing plant at 1801 S. Rollie Ave. in Fort Lupton, for Basalite, one of the largest suppliers of concrete masonry products in Western North America. The facility was built to manufacture concrete masonry units and pavers. Ware Malcomb’s Denver and Pleasanton teams provided the civil engineering, architecture and interior design services for the project. Project construction was led by General Contractor Murray and Stafford.

The state-of-the-art manufacturing facility houses equipment up to 50’ tall with 60-foot ceilings in certain areas. The project contains approximately 9,000 square feet of office space including a lobby, conference rooms, breakrooms, and an IT room. Related site work included a waste area, a crush storage area, and outdoor product storage. In addition, Ware Malcomb’s civil engineering team designed a unique stormwater management system using retention ponds to solve the lack of drainage on the property.

“This remarkable project was unique in that we used Basalite’s own materials and equipment in the process,” said Jim Terry, principal in Ware Malcomb’s Pleasanton office. “The entire site and facility design is a testament to the quality of their products and services, and we are proud to have partnered with them to bring it to life.”

“Our civil engineering team used Basalite’s permeable paver product to pave the office parking lot for a unique detention solution,” said Tom Jansen, principal in Ware Malcomb’s Denver office. “This was a successful collaboration between all of the project team members involved, and especially our Ware Malcomb Denver and Pleasanton offices seamlessly working together across the country.”
