WCG Celebrates Groundbreaking for Flatirons Golf Course Restaurant and Event Lawn

WCG celebrates groundbreaking for Flatirons Golf Course restaurant and event lawn.

On Wednesday, June 14, White Construction Group (WCG) officially broke ground on the highly anticipated Flatirons Golf Course restaurant and event lawn. The ceremony was attended by project partners including Boulder City Manager Nuria Rivera-Vandermyde, members of the Boulder City Council, Parks and Recreation Director Ali Rhodes, Director of Golf Tom Buzbee, members of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, community members, and local golfers.

The new facility, which has been designed by Z Design Group, will replace infrastructure that was destroyed during the 2013 flooding. It will emphasize community events and programming, featuring a covered patio and event lawn providing a venue for various gatherings, and adding a much-needed dining option to the neighborhood. The project began with the demolition of the existing clubhouse and will also include renovations and improvements to the existing pro shop and parking lot renovations.

Sustainability and waste diversion are key initiatives for the project. The construction will incorporate environmentally-friendly features such as electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and ample bike parking, encouraging sustainable transportation alternatives. Already, the project is outpacing its goals for waste diversion, with more than 96% of demolished materials being recycled to date.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, City Manager Nuria Rivera-Vandermyde expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Social activity, physical activity, and green spaces offer solutions to many of the problems we face. This project will add those to the community and bring people together in a fun and collegial way.”

White Construction Group is honored to collaborate with the City of Boulder, Z Design Group, and all community stakeholders involved in bringing this transformative project to life. The Flatirons Golf Course restaurant and event lawn is anticipated to be complete in summer 2024, when it will become a vibrant hub for the community, fostering social connections and serving as a cherished gathering place for years to come.
