The Park Hill Golf Course in North East Denver is to be sold for $20.5 million by the George W. Clayton Trust to the City of Denver — subject to approval by the Denver City Council.

According to DBJ, Clayton’s lease with its golf course operator expires at the end of 2018. What’s next for the 155-acre parcel is on the table and has the surrounding community on tender-hooks. Twenty to 25 acres of the property are planned for use as a stormwater retention area.

The deal between Clayton and Denver would require the city to make a $10 million down payment, then to make annual lease-to-own payments for 30 years.
