Denver Housing Authority (DHA) and its nonprofit arm, Friends of DHA, announced this week that $115,000 was raised, 132 percent more than last year, to benefit resident services at the annual Wall of Fame fundraiser on June 26, 2025. The funds will be directed toward the core focus areas of youth development, economic self-sufficiency, healthy living, digital inclusion, and community building.

“We are grateful to everyone who supported the Wall of Fame fundraiser,” DHA Chief Executive Officer and Friends of DHA Chairman Joaquín Cintrón Vega said. “This event brought together community members, partners, and supporters to celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of DHA residents and we applaud the winners.”

Celebrating Resident Achievements

Each year, the Wall of Fame honors residents who demonstrate outstanding leadership, growth, and commitment to community. This year’s award recipients included:

· Camellia Hicks – Outstanding Resident Leader

· Fahamo Ali – Outstanding Youth Leadership

· Robert Hampton – Healthy Living Achievement

· Feven Desta – Economic Self-Sufficiency Achievement

· MGM Toyz in Da Hood – Outstanding Partner Contribution

Videos highlighting the achievements for this year’s honorees can be viewed on Denver Housing Authority’s YouTube channel.

“It’s a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of our residents, and a chance to celebrate their stories,” added Annie Hancock, executive director of Friends of DHA. “We also thank the partners and supporters who stand beside us every step of the way—we couldn’t do this work without them.”

The Wall of Fame event generated significant financial support and heightened awareness of Friends of DHA whose mission is dedicated to empowering low-income families and individuals, guiding them towards self-sufficiency and independent living. The night highlighted just how vital these programs are. The average family living in DHA’s public housing earns less than $10,000 per year, and more than half of the residents are children. Friends of DHA donations connect families to vital supportive services and life-changing programs.

The success of the Wall of Fame was made possible through the generous support of community partners, with special recognition to this year’s Platinum Sponsors, together contributing $38,000:

AMS (American Mechanical Services) A trusted partner in providing HVAC services and construction work to DHA, AMS is known for quality workmanship and fair pricing. Their support reflects a deep commitment to community well-being and strong, sustainable neighborhoods.

CHFA (Colorado Housing and Finance Authority) CHFA’s partnership spans every corner of DHA’s work, from affordable housing development through tax credits to helping residents achieve homeownership. Their support is essential to creating inclusive housing opportunities across Denver.

BMS CAT (Blackmon Mooring & BMS CAT) A national leader in disaster recovery and restoration, BMS CAT ensures DHA properties and residents are protected in times of crisis. Their support highlights a strong commitment to resilience and community recovery.

Denver Housing Authority As the host and the city’s largest affordable housing provider, DHA proudly celebrates the partnerships that power its work. Every dollar raised tonight moves us closer to its vision of a thriving, equitable Denver for all.
