Ball Arena will debut a new outdoor fan activation for the upcoming playoff runs of both the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche, transforming the plaza outside the venue into a large-scale viewing destination.
Kroenke Sports & Entertainment announced plans to create “Base Camp 5280,” an open-air fan zone located along Chopper Circle between 9th and 11th streets. The activation is designed to extend the in-arena experience beyond the venue, offering fans without tickets a centralized place to gather during both NBA and NHL postseason home games.
The outdoor space will feature a 20-foot video screen broadcasting games live, along with food trucks, beverage service, DJs, giveaways and appearances by team mascots and entertainment groups. The fan zone will be branded for each team depending on the matchup, supporting both Nuggets and Avalanche playoff atmospheres.
The space is expected to accommodate thousands of attendees and will open approximately two hours prior to game time for each home playoff matchup. Admission will be free for early rounds, though fans will be required to secure a digital pass in advance. Organizers indicated that a fee structure may be introduced in later rounds, with proceeds benefiting Kroenke Sports Charities.
Ball Arena will soon be at the intersection of two major connections through downtown Denver. Kroenke Sports & Entertainment aims to transform 55 acres of existing parking lots surrounding Ball Arena into a mixed-use district. The first phase of development will bring a new performance venue, a 13-story hotel, and two residential buildings.
