Colorado’s construction industry added 5,600 jobs between July 2025 and July 2026, a 3% increase, according to an analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data released Aug. 21 by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).
Colorado had approximately 189,500 construction jobs in July, up from 183,900 a year earlier. The state also added 500 construction jobs between June and July, a 0.3% increase.
Construction employment increased year over year in 36 states and the District of Columbia, while 28 states and D.C. added construction jobs from June to July. Nationally, construction employment increased by 1% over the 12-month period.
“Construction employment gains were widespread in July on both a monthly and year-over-year basis,” said Ken Simonson, the association’s chief economist. “Nevertheless, there are several risks to continuing increases in employment, including a potential lapse in federal highway funding, growing opposition to data centers, and ongoing shifts in tariff policy.”
Colorado’s 3% year-over-year increase outpaced the national growth rate and points to continued demand for construction workers across the state.
