Alliance Construction Solutions (Alliance) recently began construction of four three-story, for-rent townhome buildings in Aurora’s Highline Village neighborhood, located directly west of Aurora Hills Golf Course. The buildings will provide twenty-two units of additional housing to the neighborhood.

The project is owned by Highline Village Townhomes, LLC and designed by KTGY. The team began work on June 1st and encountered some challenges out of the gate. For example, existing utilities from the early 1980s have been difficult to accurately locate, forcing the team to adjust the sequencing of work in order to avoid high-level schedule delays. The job site is tight and working close to neighbors has been a challenge all around. However, the team has been able to overcome these challenges by coordinating with neighbors to find mutually beneficial solutions; for example, sharing the existing parking lot. The Alliance team has also been ensuring the job site only has the materials needed for the week, thereby minimizing traffic and disruption to the neighborhood.

Despite these challenges, the team is steadily moving forward in completing earthwork and underground utilities for all four buildings. All foundations have been poured and the post-tension slab-on-grade will begin this week, with an anticipated finish date of August 4 for the final slab-on-grade pour. Framing activates are expected to begin the first week of August as well.

“Challenges arise in construction, and if they didn’t it wouldn’t be fun!” says Jake Hopper, superintendent for Alliance.
