Adolfson & Peterson Construction’s (AP) Mountain States Region celebrated its people and projects at Infinity Park on Tuesday, April 29. The annual gathering brought together more than 200 employees to celebrate and connect.

“Our annual meeting is an opportunity to gather to honor our project teams and individuals who are making a difference for our clients,” said John Herrera, regional president. The meeting embraced the theme of “Ignite the Spark”—a reminder to employees that what they do matters.

Three outstanding projects were nominated for AP’s George Adolfson Project of the Year. Named after AP’s founder, the award recognizes the work AP project teams complete daily. It celebrates a single project representative of a strong work ethic that best represents AP’s value of building trust, communities, and people while delivering an exceptional product and client experience.

Brandon Hill, vice president of operations, announced the three nominated projects: Colorado Springs District 11’s Secure Vestibules, Denver Public Schools’ Montbello High School, and Weld RE-4 School District’s Hollister Lake & Orchard Hill Elementary Schools. The winning project was Montbello High School. All 35 AP project members received an award recognizing their efforts.

“It is such an honor to stand here and celebrate a team that truly made an unforgettable impact on our school and our community,” said award presenter Neisa Lynch, Montbello High School principal. “There has never been a more deserving recipient than the Montbello team.” In addition to Lynch presenting the award, the Montbello Drum Line performed a 10-minute set to celebrate the team.

Ross Stults, superintendent II, received the Mentorship of the Year Award. This award recognizes an outstanding role model who encourages others through leadership and the upbringing of others. AP peers nominated 16 individuals for the award. Kyle Tillery, general superintendent, the recipient for 2024, presented the award.

Jon Vanzee, assistant project manager, received the Lynn Peterson Legacy Award. An internal award that recognizes passion and commitment, exemplified by Lynn Peterson herself, the wife of AP’s founder. The award recognizes individuals who exemplify the solution-oriented approach and good-natured enthusiasm she exhibited. Tom Bailey, construction manager, the recipient for 2024, presented the award. Vanzee was chosen from 24 nominations.

Additional milestones celebrated include:

  • Over 3.7M work hours achieved without a lost time incident, exemplifying AP’s commitment to safety for their people and clients,
  • 33 anniversaries for 5, 10 and 15 years including two individuals celebrating 20 years,
  • 16 new babies welcomed to the family, and
  • Over 45+ completed projects during 2024.
