Following a milestone year in 2021, Arizona-based civil engineering firm EPS Group recently held a ribbon-cutting event to celebrate the opening of its new market office at 3760 E. 15th St. in Loveland. EPS Group, which has operations in California along with Arizona and now Colorado, is also making progress on opening an office in Texas in the fall of 2023.

Based in Mesa, with offices in Phoenix and Tucson, EPS Group was recently named Southwest Design Firm of the Year by ENR in its annual look at the Top Design Firms in the region. The company hired 84 new team members in 2021 to bring the company-wide total to 285. It also saw a substantial jump in revenue, from $33.7 million in 2020 to $44.1 million in 2021.

In the feature story that announced their selection as Southwest Firm of the Year, EPS Group CEO Kathey Wagner notes, “We have spent a lot of time on our company culture over the past two years to make sure that as we continue to grow, the foundation of our success — (our people) — remains at the core of everything we do. It’s more important now than ever as our teams are located in multiple locations and we continue to support hybrid work options.”

Several company initiatives were highlighted in the feature, including the quarterly incentive program; EPS University, an in-house technical and leadership skills training program; the new Work Your Way hybrid work program; and formalizing the Path to Ownership initiative.

“When I learned EPS Group was named ENR’s Design Firm of the year, I was overcome with pride and gratitude,” said Wagner. “This award recognizes and celebrates the tremendous work and ongoing commitment our team has maintained in pursuit of our goal to become the #1 Design Firm in the Southwest by 2030. This honor gives us a little extra octane in our tank as we focus on creating a bigger future together for our associates, clients, and the communities we serve. We are extremely honored by the selection.”

For EPS Group, 2021 was just another step toward becoming a Top-5 design firm in the Southwest by 2025. Some of the recent projects that EPS Group has worked on that helped it post a record 2021 are the Phoenix Rising Stadium at Wild Horse Pass Sports Park in Chandler; the US 60X for the Arizona Department of Transportation in Gilbert, Bella Vista Farms in San Tan Valley, and Encore at Johnstown in Colorado.

Founded in 2003, EPS Group provides civil engineering, planning, land development, surveying, water resource, landscape architecture and construction management services, with certified associates in 14 states across the country. EPS Group expertise ranges from major public works infrastructure to large-scale private developments.
