Denver, CO – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has selected CH2M as one of the consultants to provide program support services for its bold and forward-thinking RoadX Program. With a vision of transforming Colorado’s transportation system into one of the safest and most reliable in the nation, CDOT is collaborating with public and industry partners to harness emerging technology solutions to better connect, transport, commute, integrate, and reduce deaths and injuries on the state’s 23,000 total lane miles of highways and bridges.
Headquartered in Colorado, CH2M brings to the RoadX Program a long-history of collaborating with CDOT on major transportation initiatives as well as local and global expertise in innovative program delivery, policy development, public outreach, technology application, public-private partnerships and small business engagement.
“RoadX is the future of transportation and will redefine mobility and enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Colorado,” said Mary Jo Vobejda, CH2M’s RoadX Champion. “CDOT’s vision inspires our transportation team, excites our technology-focused experts and motivates the collaborator in all of us to be part of this exceptional transformation.”
RoadX will employ a multi-pronged DO-IT (deployment, operations, innovation, technology) approach with the objective of being the most efficient, agile and flexible system for bringing transportation technology to market. With plans to implement several efforts along the DO-IT spectrum in the 2016–18 time-frame, CDOT will be partnering with private industry and others to deploy advanced technology to reduce the cost of transporting goods by 25 percent; turn a rural state highway into a zero-death road; and improve congestion on Colorado’s critical corridors.
Supporting the continued economic vitality of Colorado, RoadX will create an environment where industry partners have a direct connection with a state committed to transforming an aging transportation system through the advancement of comprehensive technology solutions.
