Cherry Creek and Speer Boulevard Vision Study Underway

The City and County of Denver has announced that the Cherry Creek and Speer Boulevard Vision and Reconfiguration Feasibility Study is underway. The study closely examines one of Denver’s most important corridors, Speer Boulevard and the Cherry Creek trail between Colfax Avenue and I-25.

This study, which began in Spring 2023 and is expected to be completed in early 2024, aims to develop a realistic vision, vetted for technical and financial feasibility, to improve how people move through and experience this area. With thoughtful planning, the corridor can better serve residents and visitors through upgraded public spaces and activities, improved safety and pedestrian experiences, expanded places to enjoy Cherry Creek and the trail, and improved connections to downtown and surrounding neighborhoods.

This study will also include community and stakeholder engagement to inform the design and engineering analysis and ensure that the vision for the corridor reflects the needs of those who live by and utilize the corridor.

On Wednesday, September 6, the City and County of Denver will be hosting a joint open house with the Auraria Higher Education Center for interested community members to learn more about Cherry Creek and Speer Blvd. Vision Study, along with the 2023 Auraria Campus Master Plan project. Mark your calendars!

Event details:

This is not a construction project but rather an opportunity to conduct preliminary analysis and solicit public feedback to create a holistic and realistic vision for a future project.
