Denver’s American Bonded Welcomes New Ownership

Denver-based Pouring With Heart, a hospitality group focused on preserving bars and building industry careers with care, has become the new owner of American Bonded in Denver’s popular River North Arts District.

This is Pouring With Heart’s second project in Denver — the group has owned and operated Seven Grand at Dairy Block since 2017.

Opened in 2018, American Bonded is named for the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, the legislation that requires American distilleries to deliver a pure product. Created by Denver’s Sean Kenyon, Lisa Vedovelli and Justin Anthony, American Bonded is dedicated to serving whiskey-focused cocktails at reasonable prices while celebrating the art of taking care of people.

“American Bonded will remain true to its mission of pouring high-quality, affordable cocktails in an inviting, no-frills atmosphere,” said Peter Stanislaus, Head of Development at Pouring With Heart. “This bar has a fantastic location in one of Denver’s most vibrant downtown neighborhoods with an amazing rooftop patio and a loyal following. We are excited to work with the existing American Bonded team to continue to offer a communal neighborhood vibe.”

The ownership transition of American Bonded will follow the approach Pouring With Heart takes to each of its projects – a focus on refreshing offerings and training the staff on their culture and service style. The training and management of the bar is handled by Pouring With Heart’s Denver-based team who is passionate about building community and careers in the Mile High City.

American Bonded is currently closed for a short transition period and staff training. The space will be shown some love, with the overall relaxed urban design remaining intact. A new food partner will be announced later this year.

“Our venues, from employees to guests, are people focused. We understand that a bar is not just cocktails, rather it is who is in the bar, who pours your drinks, that creates the story of it and makes people return night after night, and employees stay,” said Erbin Garcia, Pouring With Heart’s director of operations for Denver. “Pour with heart and show you care, because the more regulars we build, the more careers we create, and the more we can change the perception of what working in bars means.”

Pouring With Heart aims to increase retention and career longevity through extensive training, health and wellness programs, and equity incentives for all managers and directors. The group has a goal to build 2030 careers by the year 2030 and see every employee as a potential leader within the organization.
