DMCAR Announces Heavy Hitters Award Winners

Mindy Humphrey with Land Title Guarantee Company is the recipient of the first DMCAR UpLIFT Award.

During a virtual awards ceremony held on Friday March 5, the Denver Metropolitan Commercial Association of REALTORS® (DMCAR) honored its top commercial real estate producers of 2020 in land, industrial, multi-family, office, investment, retail, and small office broker categories at the association’s annual Heavy Hitters Awards.

In addition, DMCAR recognized its Young Broker of Denver, Top Landlord companies in the office, retail and industrial categories and paid tribute to Mindy Humphrey with Land Title Guarantee Company with the Association’s first UpLIFT Award.

“The UpLIFT Award stands for and represents the elevation that Humphrey has delivered to our association through her Leadership, Innovation, Financial impact and Teamwork,” said DMCAR CEO Katie Kruger. “For the past 10 years, Humphrey has been an integral part of the DMCAR board. She is known for being one of the hardest working professionals in our business and her personality, style and approach have made her someone that everyone wants to work with. She has both given and gained expertise over the past decade, and she matches it with an unwavering commitment, creativity, intensity and of course, an amazing sense of humor.

In honoring Humphrey, the DMCAR Board pointed out Humphrey’s tireless efforts to help create and grow the DMCAR affiliate group to more than 100 members. These relationships helped deliver critical sponsorships and the revenue needed to grow DMCAR’s professional staff and expand its ability to reach out into the business community.

““Thanks to Mindy’s work and these relationships, we’ve grown to become one of the premier government affairs organizations and policy influencer for our members and the CRE industry in the state of Colorado,” added Kruger. “Mindy has embraced every challenge, every life event and every opportunity with the same positive attitude that has become a signature characteristic across both her personal and professional life. No matter what the challenge is or the obstacles we may face, she simply finds a way to get the best result possible, tackling several life-changing personal and professional challenges and achievements along the way.”

DMCAR’s 2020 Heavy Hitters award recipients by category:

Top Land Broker – Mike Kboudi, Cushman & Wakefield – Biggest deals consisted of selling finished single-family lots in master-planned communities including Painted Prairie, Prairie Center, Looking Glass, Horizon Uptown, Downtown Superior, Northridge Estates, and Cross Creek in a year that totaled more than $90 million in personal production.

Top Industrial Broker – Jim Bolt, CBRE, Inc. – Completed $196.4 million in personal production with two transactions that stood out; the lease of a new building at Colorado Logistics Park for 85,000 square feet, coupled with the lease of a 20-acre yard for product storage leased from IOV Border States Industries (BSI). The second was the sale of the Breakthrough Beverage facility in Denver’s Enterprise Business Center.

Top Multi-Family Brokers – Shane Ozment and Terrance Hunt, Newmark Multifamily – with $803.4 million in individual production, the team captured another amazing year and earned their fourth straight Heavy Hitter honor in the Multifamily category.

Top Office Broker – Todd Wheeler, Cushman & Wakefield – completing major deals for clientsSierra Nevada Corporation, Pfizer, Inc. and Advanced Energy Industries, Inc., Wheeler earned personal production of $99.2 million.

Top Investment Broker – Tim Richey, CBRE – saying it was one of the biggest and most memorable deals of 2020 and his career, Richey successfully completed the sale of Larimer Square on his way to a year of personal production totaling $489.8 million.

Top Retail Broker – Jon Weisiger, CBRE, Inc. – with long-term relationships and challenging new deals, Weisiger and his team completed deals with a wide range of clients including Kroger, Stratus, Colorado Springs’ Victory Ridge and the repositioning of Centerra on his way to personal production of $26.5 million.

Top Small Office Broker – Russel Gruber, Gruber Commercial Real Estate Services, Inc.–

Overcoming adversity at the outset of the pandemic led to Gruber’s most memorable transaction of the year, a value-add industrial investment deal for a building located at 5380 Downing Street. In the end, everyone came together, got creative and held the closing in a Cherry Creek parking lot helping lead Gruber to a year of personal production totaling $34 million.

Selected from a group of young professionals with less than three years of experience, Nelson and White’s personal production of $53.2 million each in 2020 was highlighted by the team’s representation of Bayley Yandell Development on Volta at Voyager in Colorado Springs, resulting in a record price for the market at $52.6 million.

Top Landlord Honorees:

DMCAR recognized the 2020 Top Landlords in the Office, Retail and Industrial categories. Association members were asked to submit nominations for their top choices in the submarket that the individual broker practices.

Industrial: Huntington Industrial Partners
