i2 Construction, a Denver-based full-service commercial general contractor, is celebrating its 23rd Anniversary this month. Founded on March 26, 1999, by CEO Allan Fries, i2 Construction has grown from a two-employee company to over 40 employees and counting. The trusted general contractor is well-known for building brand-forward corporate interiors and technical medical/laboratory facilities, as well as new construction.
As i2’s founder, Allan ensures that the firm maintains the company culture everyone has worked so hard to develop over the last 23 years. He regularly assists with business development and investigates new markets for i2 to enter. He also advises and counsels new employees and the management group on implementing, “The i2 Way.”
Above all else, Fries credits i2’s impressive growth and success to its dedication to creating collaborative relationships with its clients, who value enhanced creativity and performance in the place that they call “work.” Simply put, i2 partners with organizations who are as passionate about their identity, culture, and brand as they are.
“When I look back at the last two decades, I’m amazed and appreciative of the journey i2 Construction has made over the past 23 years, and the possibilities that the future holds.”
Fries recalls the day he first came up with the idea to start a construction company in January of 1999, while perusing the bookshelves at The Tattered Cover Bookstore in LoDo, “I had been asked to write a business plan for a new company. After a couple of hours of looking at endless self-help guides, I was about to give up. The task seemed overwhelming. Then, I spied a business book called “Business Plans for Dummies” and I knew I had a place to start,” said Fries. “After numerous drafts and re-drafts, I struck a deal with my financial investor and created Integrated Interiors & Construction, LLP, later shortened to i2 Construction, LLP.”
For the past 23 years, i2 has built more than 1000 projects representing over 10 million square feet of commercial space, servicing a wide range of clients from small start Ups to international corporations. Building everything from corporate headquarters to medical sterilization facilities, museums to major league ballpark remodels. Sushi restaurants to surgery centers.
“For the past 23 years, it has been my honor and pleasure to get to know so many people in the built environment. Along the way, I have met some inspiring people and made hundreds of life-long friends. And we couldn’t do any of it without the hard work of our employees and the support of our business partners,” said Fries. “The partners and management of i2 Construction have work tirelessly to develop a sustainable organization, built on our corporate principals of hard work, accountability, open doors and treating people as we want to be treated. It’s not rocket science, but it is hard work.”
By adhering to the core beliefs and values of the company, Fries believes i2 will continue to prosper long after his involvement is complete.
“I’m excited to see where Scott Farrell and the other owners take the company over the next 23 years. And as always, I’ll dive in headfirst and help out how ever I can.”
