DENVER – Saunders Construction, Inc. has received a Marketing Communications Award (MCA) from the Society of Marketing Professionals (SMPS) for excellence in developing their internal Project Spotlights newsletter. Of the 92 companies from across the country to receive a MCA honor, Saunders is the only company from Colorado to receive an Award of Excellence. All finalists were recognized at Build Business, the Society’s annual conference on August 15-17 in San Diego.

The SMPS Marketing Communications Awards Program is the longest-standing, most prestigious awards competition that recognizes excellence in marketing communications produced by professional services firms in the design and building industry. The MCA Award program provides an unparalleled opportunity for professionals to showcase their best marketing practices and to educate the industry about the critical role of marketing in successful firms.

“It is incredible honor to be recognized, out of a total 287 entries, for our team’s hard work on the Project Spotlights internal newsletter,” said Teena Bergstrand, marketing and communications director for Saunders. “In 2016, the marketing department embarked on a multi-year plan to improve internal communication across the organization, so this proves we have made great strides in that effort.”

Nearly 50 percent of Saunders’ staff employees work full-time on a construction site. Often, these employees only know about what is happening at their own projects. To give employees a glimpse of what’s happening outside of their project site fences, a quarterly Project Spotlights newsletter is digitally published throughout the organization.  The newsletter has been a big success and well received from all departments within the company.

“The incredible marketing team at Saunders continues to exceed all expectations and generate important and compelling content for the company and the industry as a whole,” said President and CEO Greg Schmidt, “This award is well deserved and we look forward to seeing more of the same.”

Headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, Saunders Construction has 600+ employees and is currently working on more than 30 projects, valued from $1 million to $150 million in construction costs, in Colorado as well as several other surrounding states.
