DENVER — The Denver Business Journal recently announced the finalists and winners of their annual Best Places to Work Awards. These awards recognize companies in the Denver metro area that are focused on providing a great work environment and high levels of employee engagement. Unlike other award programs, the winners and finalists of these awards are based on feedback provided directly by company employees. The employees of the nominated companies were asked to complete a survey based on 10 employee engagement categories including: team effectiveness, trust in senior leadership, feeling valued, leadership effectiveness, and overall compensation and benefits.
The awards are broken up into four categories based on company size. Small (fewer than 24 employees), Medium (25-49 employees), Large (50-99 employees), and X-Large (100+ employees). Each category had ten finalists and one winner. KEPHART community :: planning :: architecture is honored to have been named a finalist in the large category along with several other A/E/C industry companies in the medium, large and x-large company categories.
Zocalo Community Development and Group14 Engineering Inc. both finalized in the medium company category in third and sixth places, respectively. Zocalo Community Development boasts their collaborative, fun and upbeat office. Group14 Engineering Inc.’s employees receive 16 paid hours of volunteer time per calendar year to give to any organization they are inspired to help.
Toll Brothers Inc. and KEPHART finalized in the large company category in fourth and seventh places, respectively. Toll Brothers Inc. has a Fantastic Fun Friday that takes place monthly where employees gather at a park for games, food, drinks and casual non-work conversation. KEPHART has a culture based around four guiding principles: commitment to improvement, nurture relationships, optimistic spirit and center table (ask them what that means!).
PCL Construction Enterprises Inc. finalized in the x-large company category coming in ninth place. At PCL Construction Enterprises Inc., employees can volunteer up to 18 hours a year during work hours. If employees participate in these 18 hours of volunteer time, they are entered into a drawing for $200 to donate to the charity of their choice.
