Sloans Lake Rezoned for 300 Apartment Units

Denver City Council has voted in favor of a rezoning application for Sloans Lake that will allow for the development of 300 affordable apartment units, just south of the lake.

The new zoning will permit a sixteen-story and a four-story building. The land is currently occupied by a medical office building, which will remain, and parking spaces. Zocalo Community Development has submitted plans for 5.2 acres of affordable rental units, affordable for-sale apartments and market-rate condos.

The rezoning application met some stiff opposition from people concerned about the size and scale of the development relative to the size of the plot of land, but council members reportedly praised the project for its balance of affordability and profitability.
