The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Colorado Chapter One2One Mentorship Program kicked off Thursday, September 12 at Small Giants Marketing Agency, located on the bottom floor of the AGC Building. The One2One Mentorship program embodies the commitment of the Colorado Chapter of SMPS–to assist all A/E/C marketers in their personal growth and development.
This year’s kickoff speaker was Josh Miles, founder of A/E/C branding agency, Bold Brand. Josh is new to Denver, recently relocating from Indianapolis, but he’s not new to SMPS. Josh served as Chief Marketing Officer for SMPS Headquarters from 2018-2021.
When asked about a path to success, Miles explained, “I believe your most powerful professional asset is your network. And if I had it all to do over, that’s where I’d start… rebuilding my network. I think I’m so passionate about networking because that’s how I’ve built my businesses. Before LinkedIn or CRMs, I used to manually keep track of who introduced me to someone new, and where my referrals came from. It was an invaluable lesson in the value of my network. I already knew a lot of SMPS Colorado members before moving here, but it does still feel a little like starting over. So, in a way, I’m really taking my own advice here. And as I shared with the audience today, I’ll be opening a photo and video studio in Denver later this fall, and I’m confident that for this business to work, I’m going to need to grow my network of local photo and video professionals too.”
This year’s One2One Mentorship program is chaired by Jaime Clark of Small Giants and Kimberly Wybenga of LSE Builders Group. The program is available for entry and senior-level marketers for professional services. The 2024/2025 program theme is “We Rise by Lifting Others,” focusing on helping others reach goals, find and nurture passions, and grow through improved communication, discovering strengths, and inspiring leadership.
