Suntec Starts 40th Anniversary Year With Spot on Inc. Best in the Business List

Suntec specializes in complex, challenging concrete projects and has become an industry leader in tilt-up concrete construction.

Suntec Concrete enters its 40th year in business with yet another major national recognition, landing a spot on the 2023 Inc. Best in the Business list. The label Best in Business was awarded to 215 companies nationwide, and Suntec was one of just seven construction firms on the list.

The list, which can be found in the Winter issue of Inc. magazine (on newsstands now), recognizes the most dynamic companies of all sizes and industries that have had an outstanding influence on their communities, their industries, the environment, or society as a whole.

“We truly believe that we have the best people in the business that continually deliver a first-class product to the industry”, said Suntec CEO Derek Wright. “We couldn’t do what we do without the dedicated people on our team and outstanding industry partners. We’re honored to have the ability to partner with amazing clients and associates in some of the best markets in the country.”

Since its founding in 1984 in Phoenix, Suntec has grown to become one of the largest concrete subcontractors in the country, ranking No. 5 nationally and No. 1 in the Southwest according to the latest ENR lists. Suntec has more than 2,000 employees spread across Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Idaho. In 2022, Suntec topped $740 million in revenue.

During its 40 years, Suntec has worked on many significant projects in Phoenix, Denver, and Salt Lake City markets, as well as the Treasure Valley region of Idaho. Suntec specializes in large-scale concrete industrial floors, tilt-up construction as well as structural construction.

In addition to its project work, Suntec is also very active in the community with its Heroes in Hardhats initiatives. The largest program that Suntec undertakes is Teacher Appreciation. In 2023, Suntec distributed more than $300,000 worth of school supplies and equipment to more than 100 deserving teachers in the markets it serves.

Rather than relying on quantitative criteria tied to sales or funding, Inc.’s editors reviewed the companies’ achievements over the past year and noted how they made a positive difference in the world. The applicant pool was extremely competitive – a huge success for the 215 honored in the list’s fourth year. Honorees for general excellence across various industries and categories are featured online at inc.com/best-in-business.
