JOHNSON NATHAN STROHE Completes Design for The Maven Hotel in Denver’s Dairy Block

DENVER, CO – JOHNSON NATHAN STROHE, a Denver-based architecture and interior design firm specializing in hospitality, urban housing and mixed-use projects, has completed architecture and interior design for the Maven Hotel, a 172-room independent hotel within Denver’s newest urban evolution, Dairy Block, between 18th and 19th Streets on Wazee in LoDo.

“The Maven is a perfect example of JOHNSON NATHAN STROHE’s belief that design is more powerful when it embraces its context,” said Nicole Nathan, partner at JOHNSON NATHAN STROHE. “The architecture for The Maven expresses an industrial feel – a nod to the building’s former life as Windsor Dairy – and the stylish, simple design celebrates craftsmanship and the spirit of the maker. The result is an experience that feels unique to Denver, to Dairy Block and to the LoDo neighborhood.”

The interior design of the guestroom levels creates a loft-like feel, infused with urban style and an industrial spirit.

The 125,000-square-foot, eight-story hotel also features an expanded, experiential lobby designed to capture the resurgence of the hotel as a social gathering space for guests and the broader community alike. Designed as one continuous first floor experience, the Maven’s 3,600-square-foot lobby flows into the 7,200-square-foot Kachina Southwestern Grill, Poka Lola Social Club and lobby of the adjacent building.

A 2,300-square-foot ballroom expands traditional boundaries by creating a connection between the hotel and the activated alley just outside the property, while also sharing event space with the Poka Lola Social Club.

This project is a collaborative effort with Shears Adkins Rockmore Architects, who designed the adjoining office building and parking, as well as New York-based CRÈME, who designed the Maven lobby. Dairy Block project partners include McWHINNEY, Grand American Inc., Sage Hospitality and Sage Restaurant Group.
