Mile High Trendy Office: MA-Designed Steel House in Denver

In Denver’s River North Arts District (RiNo)—the city’s most dynamic creative hub—Steel House redefines the modern workplace through a seamless fusion of industrial heritage and nature-centered design. Developed by Beacon Capital PartnersElevation Development Group, and MetLife Investment Management, and designed inside and out by Morris Adjmi Architects (MA), the project introduces a verdant, human-focused office experience within a neighborhood long known for its warehouses and grain silos.

To bring this vision to life, MA reinterpreted RiNo’s industrial vernacular with a contemporary sensibility rooted in biophilia and wellness. The resulting design celebrates both the area’s raw materiality and Denver’s outdoor-oriented lifestyle, creating a new model for how architecture can support connection—to place, to nature, and to community.

Key Features of Steel House Include:

Biophilic and Wellness-Focused Design: Steel House has been conceived to support a healthier, more balanced workplace experience for tenants and visitors alike. Sunlight filters through the building’s terraced massing, while lush landscaping, climbing vines, and views of the Rockies reinforce a sense of openness and connection to nature. Fitness and wellness amenities in the building, such as a double-height multi-use sports court, climbing wall, and open-air yoga studio, allow tenants to seamlessly integrate movement and moments of calm into their daily routine

Industrial Context Reimagined: Drawing inspiration from RiNo’s warehouse architecture, MA employed a material palette of steel, concrete, and glass that honors the district’s industrial DNA. A sculptural steel-framed tower at the southwest corner references the lift towers and silos that once defined the neighborhood’s skyline, establishing Steel House as a new landmark within Denver’s creative corridor.

The Park: Designed as an elevated green space, The Park is a 13,000-square-foot communal terrace on the sixth floor that serves as the building’s organizing element.

Flexible, Human-Centered Workplace: From its open, light-filled interiors to its integrated wellness amenities, Steel House embodies the future of workplace design—flexible, contemporary, and deeply attuned to how people want to work today.

Steel House stands as a testament to the evolution of Denver’s built environment—a project that connects past and present, nature and industry, design and wellbeing. With its holistic approach to material, form, and experience, Morris Adjmi Architects has created a workplace that is as rooted in RiNo’s history as it is inspired by its creative future.
