BuyWander, an auction-based marketplace specializing in returned and overstocked merchandise from major retailers, has opened a 52,000-square-foot warehouse at Prologis Business Center, located at 4700 Florence St. in Denver.
The facility serves as the company’s first Colorado location and supports its marketplace model, which connects shoppers with returned inventory from retailers including Amazon, Target, Walmart and Home Depot through seven-day online auctions. Customers purchase items through competitive bidding and pick up their purchases directly from the Denver warehouse, eliminating shipping costs while keeping inventory within the local market.
According to the company, the model is designed to extend the lifecycle of returned merchandise that might otherwise be discarded. BuyWander estimates that retailers dispose of billions of pounds of returned goods annually, and the company aims to redirect those products back into circulation through its marketplace.
“Denver is a city that runs on great gear,” said Jordan Allen, co-founder and CEO of BuyWander. “The products that fuel that lifestyle get returned every day for reasons that have nothing to do with quality, and most of them never find their way back to the people who want them. BuyWander puts those products back in circulation, and Denver gets to bid on them first.”
The company said Denver was selected for its active consumer market and strong retail base. Inventory entering the Denver warehouse remains in the local market rather than being redistributed through a national network.
“As a Denver local, when I heard what BuyWander was building, I wanted in,” said Dominique Barizone, Denver general manager. “Denver shoppers know how to find a good deal and love the hunt. An auction marketplace where you bid on real products from real retailers, pick them up down the street, and walk away winning will be a natural fit.”
