DENVER — Denver-based Sagebrush Companies, a firm specializing in real estate investments and thoughtful development, recently received the award for “Best Hotel Design” by the Architecture and Interior Design Mexican Association, for their Carmen Hotel property in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

The Carmen Hotel was previously the Alhambra Hotel, and the new ownership group made a commitment to bring a fresh look to the beach which has long been dominated by traditional architecture. Hiring a world class architect they set out to build a clean modern design creating a one of a kind iconic property. They hired world class architect Victor Sanzpoint and set out to design and build a clean, modern hotel and create an iconic property.
The hotel has 37 rooms, with a choice of six different suite designs. There are two restaurants onsite, the Keel Restaurant and the Deck 5 Pool and Sky Bar, both serving international cuisine. The Keel prides itself on sourcing organic, locally grown products from small micro farms owned by individual local families. Activities include diving, sailing, private adventure tours, private charters, golf packages, deep sea fishing and more. Deck 5 Pool and Sky Bar is five stories up, and is the only rooftop pool and bar on the beach. Located in the middle of Playa del Carmen, it has the best views of Playa.
