Mile High Trendy Office: Fire & Police Pension Association (PHOTOS)

Elsy Studios, a Denver-based commercial interior design firm dedicated to delivering customized environments at any scale, recently had the pleasure of working with the Fire & Police Pension Association (FPPA) to relocate their office space to 7979 E Tufts, Denver.

The Fire & Police Pension Association is an organization that provides pension and disability benefits to Colorado firefighters and police officers. As such, it was important for the Elsy team to create a space that was not only functional and visually appealing but also respectful of the organization’s mission and the people it serves.

To start, Elsy conducted a thorough analysis of the FPPA’s needs and goals for their new 14,500-square-foot office space and researched the organization’s history. The primary goal for the new office was to provide a space that felt welcoming, yet professional and sophisticated.

Elsy used a collection of historic photos to create a graphic wallcovering and a custom photo collage in the boardroom. These photos act as a visual tribute to the amazing work police and fire protection have done over the years in Colorado, creating a sense of pride among the employees and guests visiting the space. One of the standout features is the recycled firehose that was used to create three custom art pieces to bring a dynamic and meaningful wall feature to the break room. In the same room, Elsy designed a custom pegboard that resembles a Cribbage board to serve as a functional storage solution for puzzles and games while simultaneously nodding to the FPPA’s annual Cribbage tournament that they look forward to every year.

While selecting finishes, Elsy made a distinctive choice to use an uncommon color palette in the corporate world, including shades of red, blue, and purple, which tie in with the colors associated with fire and police services but also the colors of the majestic Rocky Mountains. These bold and vibrant colors add a sense of energy and dynamism to the space while subtly referencing a key aspect of the fire and police service’s day-to-day work.

To deliver the perfect result to the FPPA, Elsy partnered with:

Furniture: Projex Denver (Teknion was the primary manufacturer)
Lighting: Focal Point, Kuzco and Foscarini
Carpet: Patcraft, J+J Flooring, Mohawk
Title: Concept Surfaces
Wood Ceiling: 9Wood
Photography: Ryan Lawrence Photography

To further incorporate a symbolic connection to the work FPPA provides, a curved ceiling that resembles a service worker’s badge in the reception and break area was incorporated. Details like this not only create a visually interesting space and a conversation starter for employees and visitors, but it allows the Elsy team to insert a subtle easter egg for the employees of the FPPA.

Overall, the new office space is a testament to Elsy’s commitment to delivering innovative and thoughtful designs for its clients. It is a space that fosters creativity, productivity, and a sense of pride for the Fire & Police Pension Association and its employees.
