Denver-based interior design firm Semple Brown, was recently honored with five awards by The IIDA RMC (International Interior Design Association, Rocky Mountain Chapter) during the association’s annual BESTawards virtual event.
BEST is a design excellence awards program that recognizes interior design projects going beyond a pretty picture and truly encompassing Brilliantly Executed Spaces and Thinking.
Of the five awards, Semple Brown received the Best of the Best, IIDA’s highest ranking award, for Magnolia Hotel in New Orleans. The hotel also won in the Play (hotels + resorts) category. Semple Brown recently completed working with Stout Street Hospitality to renovate the historic 535 Gravier St property in New Orleans into a Magnolia Hotel. Full exterior and interior modifications and renovations were completed. The hotel features 99 unique guest rooms. Their lobby, and restaurant was also fully renovated to capture the historic details, charm, and unique characteristics of this destination.
Slack’s Denver office won the Best in the Workplace 25,001 – 40,000-square-foot category. The office creates a comfortable and calming environment that feels like a retreat. It functions seamlessly to make the employees lives easier and enjoyable.
Room for Milly, a cocktail bar located at 1615 Platte Street in Denver, won a Merit Award in the Eat & Drink category. This project was done in collaboration w/ MAINSPRING Co.
Vision Ridge Partners’ Boulder office won the Best in the Workplace 12,000 SF or Below category. Top of the list for the client was a large entertainment space that would achieve all of their goals. Operable walls and pivot doors that allow the kitchen and conference rooms to be reconfigured into an open social space were placed adjacent to the patio where employees and clients can work, mingle, and enjoy uninterrupted views of the iconic Boulder Flatirons. This openness is echoed through an open office floor plan which was adopted to eliminate real and perceived barriers between employees and reinforce a communal dynamic.
