Neenan Archistruction, a Colorado-based, fully integrated design-build firm, is celebrating its 60th anniversary, marking six decades of helping clients strengthen their organizations and communities through its collaborative approach to project delivery.
Founded in 1966 as a prefabricated metal building franchise, the company evolved into an integrated design-build firm under David Neenan, who acquired the business in 1973. Early project delivery challenges reinforced the belief that clients are best served when a single team is responsible for every stage of a project. This philosophy led to the development and trademarking of “archistruction,” the company’s distinctive approach that integrates architecture and construction.
“Throughout our history, our mission has extended beyond the buildings we create to the communities, clients and employees we serve. We strive for every project to create lasting value for our clients and meaningful work for our people,” said David Shigekane, CEO of Neenan Archistruction. “Since David Neenan founded the company, we’ve remained committed to being a learning organization built on collaboration, accountability, integrity and conviction.”
Over the past 60 years, Neenan Archistruction has delivered commercial, education, healthcare and community facilities that strengthen local economies, enhance the built environment and enrich the lives of the people who use them.
Neenan Archistruction has expanded its expertise to create more value throughout the project lifecycle. Its integrated design-build approach unites planning, development, architecture, construction and ongoing building support under one roof, enabling teams to align with clients’ goals early and deliver lasting results. More than constructing buildings, Neenan helps strengthen the organizations, communities and people they serve.
Neenan has delivered projects that have shaped communities across the country, from schools and healthcare facilities that expand access to learning and care for veterans and underserved populations to Northern Colorado landmarks like New Belgium Brewing and Powerhouse. More than milestones, these projects mark pivotal moments in the firm’s evolution, advancing integrated design-build, pioneering innovation and helping communities thrive long after construction is complete.
“We’re proud of what we’ve built over the past 60 years, but even more excited about what comes next,” said Bill Pigg, president of Neenan Archistruction. “As technology continues to transform our industry, we’ll keep investing in innovation while staying true to the values that have always defined Neenan. Design-build succeeds because of trust and relationships. That commitment to our clients, partners and communities will continue to guide everything we do.
“It’s very special to be part of the company at this point in its history. I grew up here, and seeing how much it’s grown while staying true to its purpose has been incredible,” continued Pigg, whose father was the company’s first employee. “Our employees have the opportunity to pursue work they’re passionate about, and together we’re building on the strong foundation our founders created while shaping the future of Neenan.”
Today, Neenan Archistruction employs approximately 75 people and serves clients nationwide, with projects spanning healthcare, education and financial services.
