As part of Granite Properties’ commitment to providing wellness-focused workspaces, the commercial real estate investment, development and management company is pleased to announce that Plaza Tower One, a Class-A office building in Greenwood Village, has earned Fitwel Certification. Granite also announced today it has become a Fitwel Champion, and has certified five office buildings.

Fitwel is a third-party healthy building certification system promoting health and well-being through the built environment. Fitwel Champions are companies that adopt and apply Fitwel’s evidence-based strategies to their property portfolio. Granite is pursuing Fitwel certifications for twenty office buildings in 24 months, consisting of approximately 6.7 million square feet of office and amenity space. Granite’s distinction as a Fitwel Champion coincides with its broader commitment to providing a people-centric workspace promoting wellness, community, sustainability, and giving back.

In 2021, 100 Bayview, a Class-A, LEED Gold-certified office building in Newport Beach, became the first Granite Fitwel-certified building. It was also the first multi-tenant Fitwel-certified building in the region. Since then, the firm has certified Plaza Tower One, a Class-A, LEED Gold certified office building in Denver, 100 City View, a Class-A, LEED Silver certified office building in Atlanta, 500 North Brand Boulevard, a Class-A, LEED Gold certified office building in Glendale, and Midtown Union, a Class-AA office building designed for LEED Silver certification in Midtown Atlanta.

“Granite is proud to be a Fitwel Champion. It reflects our commitment to providing high quality, productive and wellness-focused work environments for the health and wellbeing of our customers and employees,” said Sylvia Golisano, ESG, engineering & sustainability specialist, Granite Properties. “Our sustainability and wellness efforts align with our core values and are designed to help our customers make a positive impact as well. Our Property Experience Team has been working hard to certify our buildings for both LEED and Fitwel, and we thank them for always putting our customers first,” she added.

Ten members of Granite’s Properties Experience Team have become Fitwel Ambassadors. These ambassadors are located in each market that the firm has a presence, and are well-versed in the evidence-based connection between design and health.

Fitwel strategies utilized by Granite Properties’ developments and investments include wellness programming and features like outdoor workspaces, clean indoor air technology, an abundance of natural light, biophilic design, access to trails, fitness centers, and healthy food options.

“Granite Properties’ achievement as a Fitwel Champion indicates its alignment with the best science available, and demonstrates an unwavering commitment to tenant health and wellbeing,” said Joanna Frank, president and CEO of the Center for Active Design, which oversees Fitwel certification system. “We applaud Granite Properties for understanding the important role investors and developers have in safeguarding occupant health and wellbeing.”
